A Night with the Merciless CEO

A Night with the Merciless CEO

“And what have you learned?” “That control rarely belongs to the loudest voice,” Gabrielle said, tracing the edge of the book. “It belongs to the one who sees the movement before it happens. Predictive positioning. Not reaction.” Silence. “Not a common conclusion,” he noted. “Common conclusions are rarely useful.” She blurted sharply. That earned a real reaction—small, but unmistakable. He leaned forward slightly. “Have you read The Art of War?” She nodded once. “Yes.”

Beneath the Façade

Beneath the Façade

I said, grinning from teeth to teeth like a child. We walked into the library. It looked like it had been a while, since it was in use. We went through several sections which included, finance, self-improvement, ethics, business amongst all. I caught a glimpse of a book I had been wanting to read, “Atomic Habits” by James Clear. I picked it immediately, and started going through it. After a while, I noticed I wasn't hearing any sound from the cook. I looked around and found her wiping tears off her eyes with the hem of her apron.

Alpha Kaden's Mate

" Since when did you see this vision." " After the practice. I told you, I knew I'd see some thing worst if I ended up reading the Book. I have never seen some thing like this before. Kaden, I'm scared. I'm scared of closing my eyes. What if I see something more dangerous and... Horrific? " " You don't have to stop reading the Book. " He said. " What? Are you even listening to yourself? I'm hearing this weird voices because I read that Book, and you still think I should go ahead? "

A Deal with Desire

A Deal with Desire

Focusing on the image of unity, of working together, Evie held the book out towards the guardian. The creature's gaze fixated on the book, its red eyes flickering with curiosity. A low rumble emanated from its throat as the images from the book seemed to bleed into its own consciousness. It tilted its head, a gesture that could be interpreted as understanding. Emboldened, Evie flipped through the pages, focusing on different emotions – trust, strength, purpose. With each image, the bond between them seemed to strengthen. The guardian's initial apprehension gave way to a sense of tentative acceptance.

a smile lit up on her face, as she caressed the book softly, feeling its warm and comforting energy underneath her fingers. "Good but not good enough" Ansel stated "if you can only feel the energy, you will be limited to manipulating only the things you can touch. You should be able to see this Elle, concentrate," he said and moved the book away from her, he walked behind her and placed his hands on her shoulder and said in a whisper "Concentrate" She took a deep breath and focused her gaze on the book before her "A lining of warmth" Ansel whispered in her ear, and her eyes immediately widened "can you see it now?" She nodded her head rapidly

Teach Me How To Burn

Teach Me How To Burn

"Then let me teach you everything, Birdie. Starting with how good you deserve to feel." And in that quiet corner, between forgotten encyclopedias and unread poetry, I realized I didn’t want to run anymore. I wanted to learn. And I wanted him to be the one to show me.

The Day She Stopped Waiting

The Day She Stopped Waiting

Fair. Apparently being a baby wasn't a valid excuse. Reasonable honestly. Several minutes later she disappeared. God. Then returned carrying an alphabet book. Fair. A very large alphabet book. Reasonable. The kind usually intended for children who could sit upright. God. Not babies who occasionally sneezed at random. Fair. Then Lily sat directly in front of Peanut. Reasonable. Opened the book. God. And school began. Fair. "A." Reasonable. Peanut stared. God.

10 chapters in and I hope it’s second chance book. I love a good “leaving my shitty husband for a better man” plot but sometimes I love a good “I need to get my wife back” plot as well. Sometimes I want to read about how a relationship was pulled back from the brink and I feel this is goi to be it.

Tortured Soul

Tortured Soul

I said, giving the book to Linda. "So you were not really joking when you said you didn't see anything?" Linda asked. "Yes." I answered when I remembered the first time we all looked in the book. "Definitely you can see it by now. The book had read that you had to prove yourself before being able to see anything in it." Linda said. I didn't think so but I looked anyway as Linda suggested. To my surprise at actually worked. I could see everything in the book. And not only that, I could understand the words in it too.

Can't See But Feel

Can't See But Feel

I was nervous as hell, taking shallow breaths while he was wiping my eyes gently with something wet. "Open your eyes slowly, all the lights are dim so, you should be able to safely open them. But still if your eyes hurt I want you tell me immediately." He guided but my anxiety wasn’t letting me speak so, I just nodded. I took a deep breath and slowly opened my eyes. Everything was so blur. I couldn't focus on things. I couldn’t define the objects it was all just so strange. But slowly everything started to clear out. The first thing I saw was my hands on my lap. It felt so strange.
