A Stolen Fate
"So... Ree Marston now, huh?"
"Yes," I say. "Ree Marston."
"It suits you," she says, echoing her father's words from breakfast.
We sit in silence for a moment, but it is a different kind of silence now. It is a comfortable one. The fountain bubbles merrily beside us, and somewhere in the distance, birds call to one another.
"Do you know what these are?" Lorena asks suddenly, gesturing to the plants surrounding the garden.
I lean closer, studying the delicate leaves and stems. "Some kind of healing herb? The leaves look similar to feverfew, but the structure is different."
