As they stepped into the cool, damp air of the night, the rain had transformed into a light drizzle, misting the surroundings in a haze. The world outside felt lush and alive, yet ominous with an undercurrent of uncertainty. George led the way, Elora and Maya close behind, each step bringing them closer to a sanctuary that felt both like a refuge and a line crossed. Let them through,” I shout, and he bows his head, his head almost hitting the ground. The streets look deserted, but every hundred meters, there’s a patrol. We drive into the compound, and I can see the beta waiting for us by the staircase. “How bad is it?” he asks as soon as Joshua gets out of the car.

She spat out a mouthful, her face twisted in disgust. I couldn’t help but smirk despite the panic clawing at my chest. “I have no idea!” I shouted over the howling wind. My words barely carried above the storm, swallowed by the hiss of shifting dunes. Inside the storm, another form appeared, rising out of the heat and dust. Leo, the Lion, emerged with a roar, his dark fur blazing with an eerie black flame that flickered and danced. His paws, massive and powerful, left deep impressions in the sand, yet he didn’t sink a single inch, as though the desert had no power over him.
