I got into my car, drove carefully toward the local book store, they had the new book reserved for me. It was supposed to one quick drive, until I walked into the library. A girl was sitting on a bean bag, her blond hair was covering her eyes with overgrown bangs, she tried to huff them away from her face but to no use. She looked young, maybe she's just here with her parents, looking down at the book she had in her hands it was a kids story. Does she read for the local kids? Or is it just for her?

Shelves stretched from floor to ceiling, easily four stories high, connected by spiraling staircases and narrow walkways that seemed to float in midair. Books were everywhere, thousands upon thousands of them, their spines glowing softly with different colored lights. Some books floated freely through the air, occasionally settling into empty spots on the shelves or drifting down to readers at the tables below.

Tea light candles glow softly from every surface—along the tops of the bookshelves, the checkout counter, the window sills. The library at ten PM was a different room than the library at eight-forty-five AM. In the mornings it had the quality of a thinking space — quiet and useful, the particular silence of accumulated books and undisturbed air. At night it was something else. The overhead lights were off. The lamp on the reading table threw a circle of amber that made the rest of the room feel deliberately dark, the shelves retreating into shadow, the corners becoming their own private territories.

Leo opened the doors but I couldn't believe what I seen inside From floor to ceiling along the walls there was thousands and thousands of books lined up on huge wooden book cases with shelves packed full of different size and thickness of books. Some of these massive book cases were vertical in the center of the room which also had beautiful colored books lining there shelves. Glass windows were at the very top of the roof line letting in a perfect amount of natural light. The smells that filled my nose were heaven all these paper pages filled the room with the faint smell of ink lingering.

My flashlight’s beam swept across the room, lighting up the big desk in the center. Lucas’s study had always been a mix of organized chaos. Papers were usually scattered everywhere, and his bookshelves were crammed with novels, journals, and files. Tonight, though, the room felt different. Around the sofas were empty bookshelves made of acacia wood. On both the far left and right ends, there were spiral staircases leading to even more empty bookshelves resembling those below. The wall and floor lamps gave the place a soft feeling, but most of the work of lighting up the large room was actually done by the flush lights mounted directly against the ceiling in half-spheres. “What do you think, baby?” Xandar asked. He actually looked nervous. Lucianne opened her mouth and was groping for the right words. The only thing that came out was, “How? When?”
