I pushed it open silently and entered. It was everything I had expected. The exact opposite of my room. The themes here were black and grey. Black furniture, grey walls, grey and white beddings. The air conditioning was off, but it was so damn cold in here, the air so tight I could hardly breathe. Or it was just the fact that I knew my presence here was wrong. It was much bigger than my room, obviously. And I liked it. I was someone who suffered from nightmares, but paradoxically, the darkness here, was calming.

I jolted awake, trembling violently as cold sweat clung to my skin. A nightmare. Only a nightmare… though Hazel remained strangely restless beneath my skin. Suddenly, the door pushed open and Dominic crossed the room in seconds, concern darkening his expression. He was beside me before I could steady my breathing, his hand closing around mine. "Are you hurt, Natalia?" "I heard you from the room beside yours.” I turned my gaze to him as I regained my composure. "I–I'm fine. It was just a nightmare," I said, brushing away strands of hair from my face.

The next second, a white flash nuked my vision and forced my eyes shut. When I opened them again, my living room had straight-up rage quit and turned into a blood-red wasteland. "Okay, what the hell?" I squinted and spotted my six-foot-two husband, Adrian Chase, already doing the whole protective-dad thing with one arm around our son.

“That’s his job, not mine, so no.” “So I get to continue to live in this emotional limbo waiting for my animai to decide if I’m worth his time or not and all while I deal with these horrible nightmares,” I say tersely. Suddenly the room goes eerily quiet, and I can tell what I’ve said has unsettled my mother. “What nightmares?” she asks warily. I take in a deep breath, “I’ve had two nightmares of Osiah killing me.” “It’s not the killing you part that has you rattled though,” she says perceptively.

I was stunned that they switched them on every night, but with the amount of work that went into putting them up, I could understand why they did this for a couple of nights. I curled up in Oliver’s arms later, and I couldn’t stop thinking about the glorious lights. I fell asleep feeling so happy, but it didn’t last very long. My dreams were invaded by lycans not accepting me and finally forcing Oliver to give me up. I woke with a start to find Oliver leaning over me and frowning. “You were having a nightmare. Are you okay?” He didn’t look happy, and I tried to calm my racing heart. “I’m okay. I just need some water.” I pushed out of his arms, but he gripped me a little tighter.

My heart is racing and adrenaline floods through me. “Do you hear anything else?” I flick my eyes to Lucas’s face. “There’s no way this is over yet.” “No,” he agrees. “It was too easy. Almost like it was testing us.” “And now that it knows it’s up against a vampire and a witch, they’re going to pull out all the big guns.” I close my eyes and shake my head. “Let’s just hope it’s not hellhounds again.” The floorboards creak and Lucas turns, looking at something I can’t see in the dark.

She fell into a restless sleep and nightmares took her over. Jesse came into the room later that night to find Renee was still sleeping. He had checked on her several times and every time he had, she was tossing and turning. He had heard her whimpering in her sleep several times. He had threatened her earlier, but he didn’t want to force himself back on her. When his anger was taking him over, it felt good to have her struggle, but he liked it better when she was compliant.

I had nightmares in the first few years, but they faded as I got into high school. Finally, my thoughts drift to my mom and dad as they get up to grab the last glass of orange juice from the fridge. I sigh and say, “Spot, we need to go to the store tomorrow before work, buddy.” I grab some water for him and head to my room. Exhaustion finally catches up with me. I take a few sips of the cold juice, place it on the nightstand, and drift off to sleep. Once again, nightmares take over, but this time, it’s not just mom there; Luciano is also present.

OLIVIA'S POV NIGHTMARES- Those far-off melancholic dreams one have filled with darkness and so many other sinister things one couldn't dare mention. It had been recurring off late, these same dreams and far-off vision like flickering of the mind. I had tried understanding this particular one but clearly couldn't and to make things worse Nate was having it as well, I had awaken a fortnight again to see the aura of his dream how darkish it looked, but had since shoved it out if my mind when he had said nothing the next day.
