"I won't fall in love with you," Hazel promised quietly, her voice steady. "I don't want love."
Xavier searched her face for a long, heavy second, his piercing eyes analyzing the absolute honesty in her statement.
"Sign it," he commanded.
Hazel looked down at the paper. She picked up the heavy silver pen and quickly, fluidly signed her name on the bottom line.
She set the pen down.
Xavier immediately picked it up. His dark, intense eyes never left her face for a single second as he leaned over the marble island and signed his own name in sharp, aggressive strokes right next to hers.
