“Oh, but you did. Your fire woke it. The boy carried sleeping blood. Old blood. The kind the Council thought was gone. And you, my dear, pulled it out of him like pulling thorns from skin.” I shook my head hard. “No. He was just Damon. He was normal.” Magnus laughed, low and cruel. “No one is normal when they stand too close to you. You are the spark that wakes the dead blood. You make the buried rise.” Damon groaned, clutching his chest. The glow spread across his neck and jaw, his veins shining silver like rivers of light. His body shook as if something inside him was tearing free.

Magnus says, amused, “Is a leash. You have learned to cut it.” I glance back at the child. “At a price,” I whisper. “All crowns are bought in blood,” Magnus replies. “Even hers.” I step closer to the altar, lifting the ceremonial blade. Its edge gleams darkly, humming in response to the child’s power. The baby cries, louder now. “Don’t worry,” I croon, forcing my voice to be sweet. “This won’t kill you. Not yet.” I drag the blade lightly across my own palm, letting my blood drip into the sigils. The magic flares violently, and I gasp as another wave of power slams into me.

Freya’s P.O.V “My coven just used me to get to you,” Maggie’s voice sounded lifeless. “They told me they’ll extract your magic and give it to me, to make me powerful…but now my great-grandmother told me that I helped them for the greater good. That it was my duty to those who had brought me up…fed me and nourished me till I turned eighteen…and that was it…” I didn’t like the way it sounded. Maggie’s great-grandmother sounded like a dick, but that wasn’t my concern. I didn’t like the way Maggie’s eyes looked so dead…as if she was exhausted inside.

Two Days Earlier Magus knew it was late but he needed to break away from Vanna Rae and her vicious mates. And Hawk was acting particularly strange tonight. Up to something. Magus knew. But at this point he knew he’d simply have to follow along with whatever foolhardy plan the mage Commander had concocted. Magus was using a bit of crow’s blood and a feather the sentinel had offered him to scribble one line on a bit of parchment before rolling it up. He tucked it into the scaled foot of the large red bird. He leaned close to murmur to it.

The thick, coppery smell of blood filled the air. A figure, covered in blood, stumbled through the doorway. Julian. His silver hair was matted with blood, his face a mess of gruesome cuts. But the most terrifying part was his eyes. Those once proud, crimson eyes were now filled with a twisted, manic light. "Maggie!" he snarled, his voice a raw rasp. "You can't bond with him! You are mine!" He was dragging something behind him. When I saw what it was, I gasped.

“There is always a first time for everything.” Cathy took a sip of the blood noting how it tasted different on her tongue. It wasn’t as metallic as it tasted when she hunted in the wild. It tasted salty… delicious. Her mouth watered for more. But before she indulged in more blood she looked up at Maggie. “Doesn’t it bother you?” “What?” Maggie asked with a tilt of her head. “The blood. I know your kind as Ptakkagaris never had to hunt like we did…” “It doesn’t make us less animals than you are. I’m fine with the sight of blood. But I am worried and it’s not for the reasons you think…”

Drawn by the aroma of his kresnik blood, Clancy bit and drained. The mage was perplexed, he spat out blood from his mouth and a tooth fell out. He was angry, so angry for looking another tooth. As an old mage, he has almost lose his entire teeth. He took to his feet and raised his arm upward forcing from behind Kudlak a wraith to rise.

She snapped her fingers again, and a suited man walked toward her with a bowl, while the first two pulled the man away. She opened the bowl and revealed the content inside, it was filled with blood. “Drink up…you will need your strength for what you are about to do.” She said to him and fed him the blood while he drank in small sips before it turned into large gulps.

The contrast was just amazing. “You sure you want to do this sis?” Teagan’s dragon asked Mags. “More than ever.” Mags snorted and they looked back at the two men still being held down. The two sisters took the couple of steps needed to close the distance. Each sister picked up one of the men before looking at each other and smiling. “What are they doing?” Koa mumbled. “Evil genius plan?” Jax’s lycan questioned. “You guys like dragon blood?” Maggie asked the four figures now standing at their feet.

"I think they staged this attack and wanted Margret to take the fall for it because she is a moon, and she has a record. Tim told Desiree that some Bloods have been plotting because they are not satisfied with the way things are," "Who won't be satisfied with the way things are?" Kyle linked me back, " The air is the cleanest, our crops are growing, our people are happy, we have strong magic and deadly a moon army. I mean, our chances of surviving have gone up all of a sudden and now this, the first conception by a blood in over ten years. I mean, are they sick or something? I doubt it is the bloods, Adam. I think we should check the visitors because all was well before they came," Kyle said
