I bolted my door shut and rested my back behind it. My mind seemed to be in shambles as it tried to wrap around the things that had happened. I sat down on the floor of my room and tucked my knees in front of me. Screams and cries echoed throughout the castle and in response, I placed my hands over my ears to try and silence them. The things William said to me were not merely scary stories that mothers told their children— they are real. This is the reason my father is scared of them. They are not like us— they are the blood drinkers.

They entered the house one by one through the window. It was pitch black inside. They turned on their flashlights and lighted up the living room which was full of dust and old things. The atmosphere of the house was very spooky, and only their steps broke the silence inside. Luna felt increasingly pressured and she began to feel something unexplained. "I feel like there are a lot of eyes watching us," she said quietly. Max just laughed, "Stop being so dreamy, Luna. Are you pretending to be a Nancy Drew?" Luna snorted in annoyance at Max.

He leaned closer and said in a low, horrifying voice as if he were about to tell me a horror story, “One, you won’t ever be able to jump that high and squeeze out of the silver bars because breaking them isn’t an option without touching them.” He piqued his eyebrow before lowering his voice for even more menacing effect, “And let’s say that if you ever do succeed in doing that and got out of here then trust me, you’d only regret your decision because what lays beyond is far more hideous and barbaric than what you just saw here.” I didn’t want to let on that I was scared by his little tale but I still couldn’t stop blurting out, “What’s

Hendrix POV After that weirdo's silly bedtime story about end-of-the-world cults or something, I could tell Anna's resolve was breaking down. Those weird creatures and their horrifying objects were like living nightmares come true. They had twisted bodies and soulless eyes that looked right into your mind with cold malice. Their rude and inappropriate presence made me lose even my normal confidence. But giving in to fear was the first thing that led to loss. And there was no way in hell I was going to be added to Scar's crazy plan to kill people from our family tree.

Fairies, werewolves, vampires, and zombies were all mentioned in stories I had heard, but everyone knew they were made up. Everything was untrue. They were all purely made-up tales of fiction. I was abruptly being held by my throat against the wall by Vince, who had a vicious appearance and was bearing teeth at me with wide eyes and a dangerous demeanor before I could absorb or allow the news to settle in further.
