Bane's flesh was hard, dark brown because he was constantly exposed to the sun, so the whip that hit him left no mark like it was just scratching an itch for him. I would have thought he didn't know pain if it wasn't for him screaming. I didn't stop, lashing Bane with multiple whips in quick succession. There are small spikes on the whip. After many times, it also left many bloody scratches on Bane's body.

I shield my eyes as the light gets brighter. The light dies down, and when I open my eyes, I stare at the ghostly figure of a man. The man is tall, has long brown hair that falls down his back. His brown eyes sparkle, and his fair skin shines. Bane growls loudly before picking Bastian up with his teeth and throwing him onto his back. ‘No one come near Bastian, or I’ll tear you apart.’ Bastian seems to be in shock, and he can’t speak though his mouth is opening and closing like a fish out of water.

Instead, he crouched near the fire, tossing in another piece of wood. Only when the flames flared higher did he finally speak. “Lucian.” The name dropped like a stone between them. Selene went still.
