Polaris knelt down, placing the small cake beside the tombstone, tracing her fingers over the engraved name: *Marina Alvarez Marquez*. “Hey, Mom,” she said softly, her voice trembling slightly. She sat down beside the grave, her legs crossed as she looked at the headstone, imagining her mother’s kind face smiling back at her. “I made it another year.” She smiled, though it didn’t quite reach her eyes. “I… I didn’t tell anyone it was my birthday. I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it, you know? It feels strange celebrating without you.”

I still wasn't sure what and how much to tell her. She placed the cake in front of me but I didn't have the heart to cut such a cute, little bento cake. It was a circular cake with pink shades of cream. The gradient of baby to hot pink on the white background screamed girly. On it, with white cream, Happy 18th was written. White edible pearls were scattered over the pink surface. Addy sang Happy Birthday song while I cut the cake and together, we got high on sugar at 10 in the morning.

Then I have t-" Jason cuts me off. "Wait. What are you saying?" "What?" "Cake? Gifts?" "Yeah Oh I forgot, you have to order a cake, quite big, with a good design on it and the flavour will be chocolate chocochip." He continued giving me confused looks, then it suddenly strike me, my eyes widened "NO WAY IN HELL." I yelled. He forgot. "Stop shouting." "Are you serious now Jason.” "What?" "It's Junior’s birthday tomorrow." Jason’s eyes widened "Shit!"

the birthday song, loud and off-key and sung by what sounded like a dozen voices. My eyes flew open. I spun around to find the entire lodge crowded on the porch behind me. Rylan stood at the front holding a cake..chocolate with white frosting, my favorite..lit with candles that flickered in the breeze. “Happy birthday, El,” Rylan said, his face breaking into a genuine smile. My birthday. I’d completely forgotten. With everything that had happened..Jason, Melissa, the kidnapping, the war with the Skulls..the date had slipped my mind entirely.

Mirelle stepped forward, wanting to stand beside me but I beat her to it. "Let's go?" I grabbed Thalia's hands and led her to where Ianth was, right in front of the big cake. Thalia made the cake herself. She made sure it wasn't one that'd cause a trigger to Ianth's stomach issues. I don't know how she delivered it here but what she told me was she'd make the birthday cake herself and I was more than happy to allow her. "Mom, what is this?" Mirelle asked my mom, her expression mixed with anger and pain.

When it came out I was in awe. It was beautiful. Lexi made a three tier cake. The whole thing was sky blue with icing made to look like clouds. She also created a rainbow that moved up the tiers. Along the very bottom she even created little flowers. I was amazed, and Molly took a bunch of pictures of it. When the candles were lit I had a huge smile on my face. I teared up as everyone sang happy birthday to me.

She ran to greet me with a hug and my usual cup of hot chocolate. " Erica you wont believe who just called in for a wedding cake order..." I genuinely smiled at her and grabbed my cup with a carrot and peacan muffin. " Good Morning Mikayla .Who ?" "Lisa Rose . " I darted my eyes from side to side and chuckled . "The model?" " Yeah like soon to be Mrs Hugo Black. " " She eats cake ? " "Well she'd like to talk to you about making a weight friendly wedding cake"

She was holding the cake that she baked for me. "Happy birthday," I can't help but smile when I saw my mother holding a cake with a batman figure on top of it. Looks like she's still thinking I'm five years old, not that I'm complaining. I appreciate it so much and I know that the cake taste so good. "Thanks, mom. Thanks, Maddox," I said before I make a wish and then blow the candle. Just like how I celebrate my birthdays before, I sliced the cake and give my mother and Maddox each a slice. After that, they went back to the pack house since Maddox has to do border patrol while my mother is helping others prepare the food for the pack warriors.

Jake exclaims like a teenage girl, attracting a frown from everyone. "I don't even know what today's date is." What the fuck guys, I’m 19." I hiss at them in a mock annoyed tone although I wasn’t that upset.

… As soon as I returned to Glufford, I asked Dad to cancel the investment in Frankie's pig ranch. They would never guess that the investment they had been waiting for was actually funded by my dad. Now that we were over, there was no way that money would be wasted on pigs. Gael moved quickly. When he told me the company transfer had been completed, I was at a spa with my best friend, Mollie Jenkins. I admired my diamond-studded manicure and felt lighter than I had in years. "Renee, for tonight's party, do you want this older guy or this younger one? They're both gorgeous!" Mollie swiped through her photo gallery with a wicked grin. She told me she was going to replenish my soul.
