FALLING For EDWARD
“He’s not as scary as he seems.”
Abby blinked, realizing she’d been staring at the empty doorway. “I wasn’t scared,” she mumbled, but her cheeks felt warm.
Mrs. Rose didn’t say anything, but the amused look on her face said enough.
Later that afternoon, Abby went to the library. The room was huge, with tall shelves packed with books from floor to ceiling. A ladder on wheels leaned against one shelf, and a large desk sat near the window.
She started dusting the shelves, careful not to disturb anything. As she worked, she noticed a photo on the desk. It was of a woman with kind eyes and dark hair. She was smiling, her hand resting on the shoulder of a younger Mr. Edward.
