Liora's POV The nightmares started three nights after the training room attack. At first, they were quiet — soft whimpers in the dark, Alora tossing and turning in her sleep. But by the fourth night, they had become full-blown terrors that tore through the silence of the mansion like shattered glass. “Mommy! No! Don’t take me!” Her scream ripped through the room at 2:47 AM. I bolted upright, heart exploding in my chest, and pulled her into my arms before she could thrash herself off the bed.

Mia really was a magnet for weirdos. He can’t deal with this right now. He wasn’t at his best today. Last night, he’d had a nightmare. It was dark except for an artificial blue light dangling above his head. Below the light, he was trapped in a pool full of blood, bodies, and huge wooden puzzle pieces. Corpses. Cut-up and torn. Bodies. Decomposing limbs. Eyes pulled from their sockets. Worms and maggots feasting on the carnage. And everywhere it reeked of blood. Even now and fully awake, he could smell it in the air.

I said, brushing away strands of hair from my face. "Nightmares do not make wolves sound like they're dying. This…sounded as though you were fighting for your life. Tell me, what was it?" His expression stiffened as his brows pulled into a frown. I looked at him, but the look in his eyes told me he would not let this go. I sighed and shifted against the bed while he settled beside me. "Would you believe me if I told you some nightmares are memories?” Dominic's brows knitted together in confusion.

The loud noise was heard, but before anyone could get to where Alex was, he was already sprawled on the floor, lying atop a puddle of his own blood. Luna. Her sleep was plagued with nightmares. Terrible nightmares where she saw herself covered in a puddle of blood… a blood that wasn’t hers and to worsen matters, she could see a corpse in the distance, a corpse that strangely looks too much like Alex's. This got her all shaken up and it only got worse for as soon as her eyes sprung open, she noticed with alarm that she was in an unfamiliar room, on an unfamiliar bed, and that there was nobody in sight.

I’m ready for the Little Nightmare to come out. The nickname Little Nightmare seems to be sticking. It’s slightly fitting as her father is a demigod of death and her mothers is a lycan. These are definitely two things that would give normal people nightmares, and Everly is a combination of those things. We decided to call her Ever as a cute nickname and Little Nightmare as her nickname for when she is driving us crazy.

They’re reassuring, a quiet command to keep my head, and an impenetrable wall of ice that freezes out any fear I woke with. It's still dark out, a little lighter so the sun isn't far from arriving, but ultimately the time of day has no bearing on when the monsters in this house seek me out.
