She’d been restless, clawing at my insides, pushing words into my mind I couldn’t always hear and certainly couldn’t understand. I rubbed my fingers over the crescent moon tattoo on my neck. It tingled again, burning just a little, like it had something to do with the pounding in my chest. The Blood Moon Festival was here. The first night of it anyway. Dancing, music, and maybe, if the Moon Goddess deemed me worthy, my mate. But everything that happened yesterday was still heavy in my mind. The way Kael looked at me, storm-gray eyes boring through everything I tried to hide.

“three Winter Solstices ago, the family from that malpractice case cornered her there—under the blood moon. They used silver-forged blades, cut deep until her wolf couldn’t heal. When the bond broke, she screamed once, and then… she was gone before the healers could even reach her.” He paused, voice lowering. “The Elders said her spirit howled for one year before the moon claimed her. Her scent lingers because she died there.” Rowan’s brows furrowed, his jaw tightening with a pain he refused to name. “Don’t insult me,” he snapped. “She always had a flair for drama.” He pulled out his phone, the blue glow illuminating the hollows beneath his eyes.

Mother whispered. She reached out. She grabbed Junes wrist where the purple vein was glowing. The touch felt like electricity. Junes vision became blurry. For a second she was not in the hangar anymore. She saw the Moon from the outside. She saw the black Benson ships falling like flies. She saw the alien craft wrapping cold green arms around the Moon. "June! Watch out!" Dantes voice broke the vision. A black needle slammed into the floor between June and Dante. A wave of energy threw Dante backward.

I told him, and he beamed at me. "Glad to see that you are happy, Adam. You and Luna Desire truly fit each other, and I am glad you found a way to make it work. Running away was an option, but it wasn't the best option." he said, and we started laughing, knowing we had taken steps to leave and start our pack. I remembered the ongoing moon investigation. "Cancel the ongoing moon investigation. Desiree is going to speak with the moons and keep them in place. It will take a while, but soon we will all see ourselves as blood moons." I said, and he nodded and left to put my instructions into action.

As such, a night that should've been like any other night where the Demon Lord slept with a new mistress in his quest to get an heir turned into a palace vigil in which everyone in the palace, except for the Demon Queen, stood outside the little palace room in trepidation. And the one because of whom the entire Jabril Palace was awake was counting sheeps in her sleep. "One sheep, two sheeps, three sheeps to hell, life is nothing but a big fat scum! Celeste tells me as she pushes the tray into the small opening. The smell of the food hits me and my mouth instantly begins to water. “Thank you.” I said kindly to her as I moved to retrieve the tray. Looking at the burger, I thought it looked familiar but once I bit into it, I knew right away where it had come from and knew right then that I wasn’t far from Red Moon. The problem is that I had no way of getting a word to my mates. “Do you like it? It was Damon’s and my favorite.” Celeste tells me and I look at her confused. Had Damon spent time with Celeste while the Moon Witch had him under her control?

I ask, and I find my voice has come out as almost a whisper. "I didn't mean to startle you," he says, and I see his eyes flicker over my body, even in the half-dark. "I just thought you might want to know it's not a full moon yet. In case that's important for your shot." His voice is low, almost a growl and it sends a tingle up my spine. "Oh thanks," I murmur, an inexplicable thrill racing through my body as I gaze at him. "But it's a series I'm working on - the title is Incomplete." At this I see a wry smile break out on his face.

I had no idea where to find him, so I stood outside the prison gates where Trevis had been incarcerated for years. That day, many inmates were released after serving their sentences, but I never saw the person I longed to see. As night fell, I left. The years of longing and unexpressed emotions had almost driven me crazy. So, I began to write, using my few memories to document our story. I titled it "Whispers Across the Moon." It was published in my senior year. The story of a young girl's innocent and unrequited love moved countless readers to tears and touched many hearts.

As soon as the door clicked shut behind them, I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, instinctively reaching for that meditative state I somehow knew I needed to access. The transition was instant — one second I was lying in my bed, the next I was standing in what looked like the most perfect midnight clearing I'd ever seen. A full moon hung impossibly large overhead, bathing everything in silvery light.

He’s given me hell ever since we were kids, and presently he’s got me alone… and he’s brought company with him.
