The Frozen Ballroom had been opened for the first time this solstice — a vast chamber where the floor, walls, and ceiling were made of enchanted ice that never melted, reflecting light like a thousand diamonds. Tonight it hosted the Midnight Waltz of Frost and Flame, a sensual celebration where couples danced while enchanted flames flickered harmlessly across the ice in swirling patterns of blue and gold.

The room even had the original chandelier and sconces that had been carefully converted by the best craftsmen I could find to use electric bulbs designed to look like gas flames. Moira crossed into the middle of the room and looked up at the ceiling tiles adorned with phases of the moon. They stared for a while before spinning slightly and turning back with a look of excitement. “We need to hold the Moon Maben Ball here. Why haven’t I ever heard of it being in High Valley? This place is so beautiful!”

“Dara I don’t go to the balls or parties. I’m not interested in such stuff.
