Taking a deep, shaky breath, I peeked around the rock. There, sprawled on the ground, was Trix Wilshire. Yes, Trix Wilshire, the bane of my existence since preschool. But this wasn’t the Trix I knew. This Trix wasn’t sporting his usual smirk and perfectly styled hair. He was injured, his face contorted in pain. And he was… changing? His bones twisted, popping unnaturally. Fur sprouted from his skin, replacing his clothes. His teeth grew into fangs, his nails into claws. In a horrifying display of transformation, the guy was morphing into a monstrous wolf just like the one before him.

“That's it. Your healing has already kicked in.” Mitch started to regain some strength as Gus began to emerge. Unfortunately, the red-haired man was in full wolf form. His wolf was huge and scary, but its crimson fur was unique; full and shiny. His sharp canines dripped clear, thick saliva as he padded closer towards Mitch. Gus was almost fully out. The red wolf raised his right paw and sliced Mitch across his face. The wound burned like acid. Mitch ducked another blow. Mitch was fully transformed into his big, black-furred wolf. Then I heard snapping, and my eyes went to Xavier, who was now crouched on the floor. I watched in horror as his face wrinkled into an expression of pain as his entire body convulsed forward. He bent down, and his shoulder blades snapped and jutted upward as his rib cage broke and pushed out against the skin on the other side of his body. Dark fur sprouted from his arms and neck, and he yelled out in pain. He gave a loud painful growl before transforming into a snarling black wolf. His red eyes connected with mine, and he charged towards me.

I was sure he was paying attention to every word of our conversation. “What do you make of the fire?” Xavier asked from my other side. Right. The flames pouring out of my clawed fingertips. It had obviously been magic. Wolf shifters didn’t have that kind of magic, only whatever mysterious power that allowed them to morph forms, have heightened senses, strength, and speed.

“Kill me if I lose it.” The bones underneath his skin began to crack and shift around. Vincent groaned in pain as he shifted into his aggressive wolf. The transformation seemed painful, but when Vincent stepped out in his wolf form, Cohen and Liam were shocked by his appearance. Vincent was born as an Alpha wolf, just like Cohen and Brandon. Alpha wolf shared the same appearance, which was a black wolf and larger than a normal wolf. Their attributes might be different from one another, but the appearance stayed the same.

He blinked up through blurry eyes, wiping at his tears, and then— His heart stopped. A monstrous figure loomed above him. "Grahhhhhhhh!" The creature was unlike anything he had ever seen. Towering, grotesque. Three times the size of a normal wolf. Its eyes burned a hellish red, gleaming with an unnatural hunger. Claws, long and curved, glinted under the weak moonlight. Saliva dripped from jagged teeth as it growled, a sound so deep it rattled through Logan’s bones.
