Just as she was truly about to, however, she noticed something peculiar. From the corner of her eyes, she noticed that the spot that was previously occupied by that familiar man was now suddenly empty. As for where the high schooler was, she noticed as blur, one that she would have missed had she blinked at that moment. The next second when the truck had passed and everyone else was focusing on it, she noticed a familiar figure on the other side of the road, leaving the scene as if it had nothing to do with him. Behind him, she noticed that the previously rushing high schooler was now sitting on the floor with a confused expression.

Then opened them again, back to my sharp and focused self but the truth—The part I didn’t say out loud— Sat quietly beneath all of it. I noticed and once I noticed something…I never ignored it. Not anymore.

Not now. Not ever.

The fact he was always there which I never noticed… “Sadly your beautiful eyes never noticed me.”

I said. He seems taken aback by my observation. It's as if he didn't expect me to notice that something was up with him. He stayed silent for a few minutes, content with just staring at me. Everything looked as if she was merely an observer and none of the participants seemed to take note of her. “Of all the people that could’ve walked in on us,” Jace said with a resentful tone looking at Meghan. It didn’t seem like he noticed Aira standing right behind her. Although Meghan was much taller than Aira, there was still enough space for him to see her. But, he didn’t notice her. Aira wondered for a moment if the man ever really SAW her, but she soon she buried that thought deep within her mind, it was too late to think about that.

Called Hunter, who was not available and texted back later: you good? Yes, I texted. Just thinking. The blank stayed where it was: filed, noted, left alone. But I knew what I'd written. Notice what the noticing costs. I was still noticing.

People literally walked past me in crowds like I wasn’t there. Someone bumped into me at lunch and said, “Oh, sorry didn’t see you.” Didn’t see me!! Didn’t see me!! Didn’t see me!! The phrase became a background noise. Eventually, I stopped expecting anything else. So I learned something important: If no one sees you, you see everything.
