I doubted my sanity would remain intact if I were to be left on my own. We all sat in the cozy living room, surrounded by plush cushions and soft blankets. My three best friends; Layla, Janelle, and Sofia, as well as Alyssa, my sister-in-law, flanked me on the large couch, while Alfredo and Alvida, my parents-in-law, sat on a couch opposite ours. He pushed the younger bear with the weight of his body and knocked him against the wall. “TALEN!” He heard DYLAN yell from across the torn-up room. The bear hit hard, his face slapping against the wall with a massive cracking sound. Blood splattered all over. The body slid down the wall, leaving a bloody trail as it went. His bear fell into an unconscious pile on the ground. TALEN didn’t have time to worry about the kid or if he was dead. They knew the rules when they went against their leader: kill or be killed.

I lifted my stiff legs and inched toward the corner, but my foot landed on something hard and round at the worst moment possible. A sharp, piercing screech rang out beside me. When I quickly lifted my foot to take a look, I noticed it was a bloody eyeball, which gave me such a fright that I recoiled back several steps. This was something I would normally only see on late-night TV. A ghost skittered over in a twisted, broken crawl, scooped up the eyeball, and popped it back into its socket. To suppress the scream in my throat, I pinched myself to stay focused, but the ghost had noticed me.

Jameson spoke then, the only one of the bears who had been quiet the entire time. “We will not allow it. Bears do not mate or resonate with humans. It is impossible and unnatural. And any bear who ventures to do so will be kicked out of the council.” “Yes,” Elias continued. “Any bear who does such a thing will be cut off from the resources we provide. They will lose any and all protection they have enjoyed thus far.” “And they will be severely punished.” When Timber looked at Devlen, the shifter was pressing his lips together in a grim line.

A smile washes over my face as his rough voice floods the space, and I can just imagine his tired, haggard face. “Because not only are you the weapons manufacturer,” he continues, “you’re also a Nero. And you’ve managed to bag the only other Nero in the galaxy they know about. I think you could stand to learn a little humility, Nova.” “Slag, Edan, you’re alive!” I say, relief flooding through me. “Are the others okay?” “What the void, Nova?” Zayne’s voice speaks through the overhead sound system. “You can’t just go and disappear like that and then make a major outing on The Black Hole of Truth. Are you trying to give everyone a slam heart attack?”

Jess sat up right and once more it was pitch black, that’s when jess understood what this was. “My nightmares.” Jess whispered, her voiced echoed in the darkness, but it was as if Jess had just said the key for everything to explode. Every single one of her bad memories, jumped out of the dark, young Jess sitting with her dead mother, trying to clean her wound, hoping she will wake up if Jess just keeps pressure on it. Her Father chasing her, beating her, screaming at her. Her beast tormenting her once again. All the Jess’s, the young ones or the older ones, each one of them that cried out in pain as they were being cut, burned or beaten, each Jess that was ever told how she should just die,

None of the monsters moved toward them as the two Picts toured the cave. “Enemies?” Gonar hissed to his master as they walked amongst the beasts. Every one of them yawned and appeared sleepy to Gonar. Every one of them sported an ivory coat of fur, save for the largest. Gonar peered over the edge of the walkway at the vast underworld. He eyed the only one of the beastmen covered in black fur, the one they called Adelaido.

-I'll fight my fears, Jay, I'll do it for you -I walked over and sat to the side across from him- I promise you my monsters won't defeat me. I realized that what he said was true, I had died in my sleep, one of my fears was to sleep and be trapped in one of my nightmares, not knowing what was real or not. This thing I was living was like a very bad nightmare. And there were monsters lurking: Death, damned souls, and God knows what else I'd be about to discover. (Bear Man) Like lifting a sandbag in the air, The Bear Man Vendors lifted the mercenary that were still in pain from his cut fingers, and choke slammed him onto the cement floor of the wet market, making a little crater on the floor and instantly knocking out the mercenary. The Bear Man rips open his bloody overalls and let out his beastly shouts, invoking his war call upon the Mercenary, as he locked into his second target, a mercenary right in front of him.

Tony Someone shifted against me and I opened my eyes. Tasha was laying half on me and I shifted a little to pull her close to me. ‘Mine,’ a weird voice said in my head. I blinked in surprise.
