Not Your Mate Anymore Novels & Stories

“You’re gatecrashing a strategic meeting with an important mark to save me from seeing Griff with another woman?” The corners of his full lips lifted. “Precisely.” “What makes you think I’d be affected by seeing him have dinner with someone else?” His brows rose, and his eyes twinkled with amusement. Ophois didn’t need to answer that question. The whole reason I was here was because I had ended up in the worst part of Hell for murdering my unfaithful mate. “All right,” I said, trying to keep from sounding annoyed. “Technically, Griff and I are no longer mates since we can’t speak into each other’s minds. He can do whatever he wants.”

"You're going to be together soon, and it's only natural that these things happen. I’m sorry that I accidentally interrupted you and acted weird afterwards. Just don’t mind me." I move closer to Anastasia, my hand reaching out to cup her cheeks. Gazing into her eyes with an intimacy that borders on reverence, I speak from the depths of my heart, my words raw and unfiltered. "Nothing genuinely intimate happened between Yvanna and me coz I no longer feel the bond connection with her the same way I do with you. She’s not my mate anymore, you are." Anastasia draws a breath, her tears falling freely again, but this time not from hurt, I can sense a flicker of joy.

nothing. I looked at him quietly and pushed the Alpha Council-approved mate bond dissolution papers across the coffee table toward him. "Don't bother," I said calmly, my voice steadier than it had been in years. "The Alpha Council has approved our mate bond dissolution application. You're no longer my mate."

Orion said while he rubbed his hand up and down his daughter’s back. Mateo ran his hand through his hair frustrated, he regretted giving his number to his siblings, they always had the shittiest times of calling him especially when he was so busy. “Fine, I will think about it,” Mateo said. “Good. Well in other news, how are you doing? You are nearing your late thirties and still, you are single, did you try finding your mate?” Orion asked. “No, I told you, I do not care about this mate nonsense,” Mateo answered irritated.

“Your mate... he’s with another woman right now.” “No,” I croaked, trying to wrest the agony away. My vision blurred with unshed tears. “That can’t be because I don't have a mate anymore...” My hands trembled as I forced myself to sit up straighter, despite the crushing feeling that had lodged itself in my heart. “You have another mate, Kayla. A second chance mate.” A second mate? It didn’t make sense. How could I have another bond when the first had already shattered me? My chest tightened, anger bubbling up alongside the confusion.

"It was abandoned when we got here. There was no blood involved." "What's a mate?" She looked at me with bewilderment in her eyes and chuckled. What? Is there something funny about what I asked? "You do not know what a mate is?" "Nah-uh." I shook my head. "I was confused when he said that. He didn't even bother explaining it to me, and instead- made fun of me not knowing it. "Well, a mate is a soulmate. Both of you are destined to be together." My jaw dropped. I place my hands on my belly and then proceeded to laugh like there was no tomorrow. "Ahahahaha-! Are you serious right now? Is this some kind of a made-up storybook theory that you found in the streets? Because that's hilarious!"

I want to be free from my mate forever! “Dear, mate. You are not my alpha, and you do not deserve the respect and honor you have not shown me. I need you to understand that I want to end this terrible mate connection because you don’t deserve one. I don’t understand you, and I am sure that no one could ever understand. So don’t bother me. Please do not come looking for me. Never shall we meet again.”

He asked sarcastically. "How old are you anyway? Four centuries? Five? Six? Or more? If you are at least a century, how come you didn't meet a girl good enough for your taste? And what about your mate?" "I am mateless, Eve. And I was too busy on other things to wander around women." "Mateless? How can you say that you are mateless? How would you even know if you have a mate or not?"

Doesn’t know what is about to hit him. Nova starts bouncing on her feet and shaking her hands. “Steady girl,” Juliet teases. “Why the hell am I so nervous?” Nova asks them. “Because you realize your mate has watched you for years throw yourself at other guys,” Terry teases. Juliet and Catherine hit him upside his head. “Had he let me know he was my mate, I wouldn’t have done it,” Nova huffs. “And I did stop once he found his mate." “You have been a perfect friend,” Juliet smiles at her. “But I was more than happy to light all those candles for you, knowing you are off the market does help me feel better.”

The last voice I wanted to hear around me was that very word: MATE. That damn word! ‘Will you shut the fuck off!’ I angrily yelled with all my might. Mate? I scoffed, broken down in mental sorrow. There's nothing like a mate in our lives anymore. We're just some dumped bag of shit that isn't wanted around the vicinity of everyone.
