The line of maids ended and then the men were seen facing each other, they must have been the butlers. It took us a few minutes to find the first case of the stairs. I looked up and could hardly breathe at what I saw, a golden staircase whose handles on the sides were made of bronze and silver. “Am I in heaven?” I asked in my mind. It's really true that the interior set up of Mister Suarez's mansion is like heaven. My mind was interrupted when I heard loud footsteps coming from above. A few moments later I saw his legs hidden inside a black slacks. My gaze rose and stopped between her thighs.

They stood in the lobby and looked at the cantilever staircase. They had been looking at it when Daniel reached them — Owen with his furniture-maker's assessment, reading the solved problem in the engineering, the quality of the cantilever as a technical achievement; Miriam with the mathematician's reading, the load path and its resolution legible in the tread's extension from the wall. Her face had eroded over centuries, but the sorrow in her pose still lingered. Head bowed, hands broken. Like she was mourning something even the gods wouldn’t speak of. Orion ran his fingers along the base, pressing something I couldn’t see. A soft click echoed beneath us. A narrow grate at the statue’s feet slid open, revealing a spiral staircase descending into darkness. Of course.

He smiled slipping his hand into mine and beginning to lead me towards the golden staircase, my steps a little slow as I attempted to climb the steps in the heels I was given. As I reached the very top of the staircase, I couldn’t help the gasp from astonishment which came from my mouth, I thought this place from the bottom level looked intriguing but up closely, it was incredible. The shelves were a dark blue colour with lights placed within the tops of the shelves to illuminate the books stored below. But right in the centre of the shelves of books stood the one which seemed to be on display, it was propped up slightly with its own light illuminating the words.

Her curiosity’s taking over, and it’s making her nuts. Though she didn’t get what they’re talking about, they did emit such a dominant fear that she could feel it even from where she stood. Shaking her head, she turned to the front desk and was surprised to see Celestine standing beside her. “Let’s go, Ma’am?” Celestine pointed at the ancient-looking stairs. It was made out of wood and has been painted in deep orange. The staircases were covered with oceanic blue floor mats that looked to Zheira as a red carpet.

Fear. Taking some gentle but précised steps back, her feet touched something that was buried under the dried leaf which carpeted the floor of the forest. Her stomach knotted. The object looked like a skull, perhaps, the skull of a baby that had died here. She picked the object but frowned from the rotten flesh that glued her hands. The eyes and mouth were gone, and what remains of the ear were at the mercies of some decomposing worms. Ejima steadied her grip on the object, placing them perfectly on her sling. She has not used something this heavy on her sling before, but what other option does she have?

I nearly gasped in awe at the sight of the huge staircase- it looked just as intimidating as the walls of the house.

The double door swung open inwards, revealing the treasures behind it. Ophelia held her breath as she took the first step on the wooden parquet floor. Her footstep echoed through the endless rows of shelves. Some were lined up against the wall all the way to the back of the vast room, Ophelia couldn’t see its end. For a minute, it gave the impression that it had no end, that if she kept walking she would always end up with a different world to read about. The spiraled staircase was centralized in the space, leading to a mezzanine floor, its border fenced with golden railings that looked upon the floor she stood on.

Nicole wiggled her eyebrows, "Magic. Come." Daphne followed her into the dark corridor. When they crossed the threshold, the wall trembled and slid back into place. The staircase was well lit. Daphne looked up and saw some sort of opening from above that let in the moonlight. "The staircase is beneath the west tower. There is no way to get down here except through the door we just opened." They reached the bottom of the staircase and walked through the catacombs. Rather than feeling cold, they felt oddly warm.
