Ophelia Novels & Stories

Silas slowly turned towards the window. Dong. Again. The sound came from the royal forest. Ophelia went white. “No.” She crawled backwards. “No, no, no.” “What is it?” Her eyes filled with terror. “That's the bell.” A third toll rolled across the palace grounds. Then every candle in the room extinguished. Darkness swallowed us. Xela surged forward. Something moved beneath my skin. My shadows. Not responding to me. Being pulled. Towards the forest. I staggered. Sebastian caught me.

Suddenly i realised Dellinq was very quiet in my head. "Dellinq?" "Sorry, mate was hiding." "Hiding?" "She scared." "Of what?" "She special." "Dellinq, stop being so cryptic." "She a blue tail mermaid." He said. I frowned and looked at Kari. "What is it?" She asked. "Apparently, Chloe is a special mermaid, which is why she hid." I told her. "Dellinq is being cryptic." Kari was quiet for a moment, obviously discussing with Hela. Suddenly her eyes turned purple

She hoped he realised that it couldn't go any further. He dutifully put the kettle on and started to rummage for food. "Eggs. Eggs on toast with beans. Will that be all right?" "Anything, Alrik. Whatever's there." Alrik busied himself with the pots and pans. He had to sit to cope with the height of the specially adapted cooker and work surfaces. Hyphialta responded to another series of clicks from one of the underwater microphones. "Who was that?" "A female of Roc's pod. I call her Messelina – you know, the wife of Claudius who slept with all the men. She's an outrageous little nymphomaniac."

Ophelia’s POV: “Rhea Whitmore.” The name vibrated through the speakers. A part of me—the broken, deeply scarred part that still clawed at the walls of my mind—didn't recognize that name at all. That part was still hopelessly stuck in the bleak, terrifying past where I was just Ophelia. A helpless, recessive Omega tied down to the whims of the Vitale family.

I asked, a sinking feeling growing in the pit of my stomach. "Your mother, Bo, did not simply die from birth complications after having you," Ophelia said, voice lowering conspiratorially. "Throughout your pregnancy, she was systematically dosed with an undetectable poison." The words hit me like a physical blow, stealing my breath away. "What?" Ophelia swallowed hard before continuing. "Do you know what relics are?" "Numinous individuals as old as time itself," I recited numbly. "Orisha, kitsunes, stag shifters, demons..."

Their faces, visible in the soft glow of the interior lights, registered a mixture of horror and morbid fascination. Elara let out a slow, low whistle, a wicked gleam in her eye. “Damn, Hannah,” she whispered, nudging her trembling friend. “Never thought our noble Ophelia could be this savage. Who knew she had it in her?” Hannah, her face pale and trembling, finally broke from her paralyzed state. Taking a hesitant step forward, her voice was choked with distress. “Ophelia, stop! You’re hurting her—you’re really hurting her badly!”

Thin sunlight seeped through high clerestory windows and pooled across the keep’s audience hall, where rumors already scuttled like mice. Ophelia stood near the servant’s entrance, tugging at the frayed sleeve of her old linen gown—borrowed from Maeve at dawn. Ash dozed at her feet, tail twitching.

I turned Ophelia. She stood at the altar’s edge, arms raised. The Spiral glowed across her body, runes ignited in flame and light. She whispered something I couldn’t hear. And the enemy faltered. They shrieked, recoiled. Some clutched their heads. Others simply dropped, as if struck by unseen force. Ophelia’s voice rose, steady, powerful an incantation older than the hills. A wave of light erupted from the shrine, tearing through the Hollow Howl like a cleansing flame.

Chander's sudden interruption brought her back. "Miss Hila, let me help you take care of the other eleven." She didn't feel light headed or drunk anymore. "Why would you help me? You are in no position to gain anything from their deaths and if you are, just shut it and consider yourself lucky that your competition just got lower." She took off the robe and was left covered by a tiny sleeveless navy blue dress that barely covered even half her thighs. The pair of linen dolphin shorts of the same color loosely swayed as she moved towards him.

Ophelia lifted her head to see what was the matter and her eyes widened in fear and shock. In place of his beautiful brown eyes, there was the rich shade of golden she had seen that day. The beast’s canines were borne at her and she winched when his claws dug into her flesh. Ophelia tried to move but the beast had her immobile. Her breathing quickened and a gasp came out of her. A wave of low growls ripped his chest and his lips pulled back when his eyes fell on the mark on her neck. He neared his face towards her neck and a mewl left her mouth.
