Her hands raised, slowly clamping them to the sides of the crystal sphere. Her body jolted, and it made mine jerk as well, but I decided not to rush to where she was because the Orebrus glowed. The glow moved from the sphere toward Iris’ hands, then it traveled along her arms toward her chest—where her heart was. I took many steps to the other side, finding a spot where I could see her face. She had her eyes closed and her chest began to heave. And just as I was about to ask what was happening to her, a soft cry ripped past her throat.

While looking around with the hope everything she saw was a dream, her eyes caught the mirror, and she found her feet moving towards it.
