The enemy inside Later that night, Carlo stood alone in the surveillance room, surrounded by walls filled with monitors and flickering screens. Every angle of the compound was visible—every entrance, hallway, blind spot, and roof corner. The room was cold from the hum of the machines, but a thin layer of sweat clung to his neck. He watched in silence, his eyes bloodshot and wide open, refusing to blink for too long. He had zoomed in on the northeast perimeter three times in the last hour. No movement. No shadows. There was no sign of Marcus. But still… his gut twisted.

~Author’s POV~ "This track is called the Serpent's Back. It's a narrow road that goes up a mountain. There's no fence. Just a big drop off the side. People have crashed here. One guy died last year," Simon said, his eyes shining with amusement. Harriet listened, but she didn't look scared. She was looking at her car, a simple silver Mazda. She touched it. The monster laughed and shrugged. “Sorry, but I’d rather have hers; she smells too delicious.” Then, he bared his fangs. “Now!” I yelled and Leila’s body immediately went limp, slipping through the monster’s arms to the floor. It happened so abruptly that the monster was startled as I grabbed him by the throat and pushed him outside onto the back porch. “Is there anyone else with you?” “No … no … no one else!” the monster stammered, his green eyes barely visible beneath the milky film covering them.

Their monsters department called me that they will be needing at least 5 Malemyns to help them eliminate the monsters nest that they discovered. The said monsters nest is full of evolved snakes with two heads and their tails has blades." Alfonso said.

A monster? The moment we step onto the grounds, the smell hits. It's the smell of copper and rot and something disgusting. My stomach lurches. Kira swears under her breath. Isaiah's jaw tightens as the backup soldiers fan out, their boots silent on the snow, their weapons drawn. Then the chanting reaches us. It's loud enough to vibrate in my bones. Connor spoke in a low voice as if he expected someone to hear him. Pete had a nice smile and warm inviting eyes but when it came down to it he was a monster of the worst kind, Glory had a weak smile on her face as she looked to the house then the car that rested alone in the driveway. Seeing this, I leave. While walking through the dark hallways, I make my way back to my command center. Walking up the stairs, I stop and stand at the top where I can see all the monitors as they record everything happening in the city. As I check the monitors, I see the ones I have installed in the OutPost. “Strange,” I think, seeing the Outcasts all standing in a circle. They seem to be discussing something. “What’s going on?” I bring up my wrist and press a button on my remote controller. Activating the audio on my spy cameras, I listen in on the OutCasts.

"Where will I find the leopard's bone and how sure would I be that it's a leopard's bone?" "There's one way for you to be sure about that. You will attack the leopard, get a bone from its flesh and make sure it remains alive and healthy. If anything happens to that leopard after using its bone, Anu would die too."she warned.
