Shania and I decided on Samuel Turner, a marketing manager at Shania's company. Samuel was younger than Lucille and about six years younger than me. I had gotten to know him through a random dinner event in the past. I had formed a deep impression of him because of his good looks and how smart he was at handling all sorts of situations. Later on, I got to know from Shania that he was also very competent at work. He had managed to get his position as marketing manager within a year of joining the company.

One rainy afternoon, Amelia misplaced her journal at the library. It had been a long day — essays due, caffeine crashing, umbrella snapped in the wind. She searched everywhere, frantic. Right then, the butler came in to say dinner was ready. Joseph would also be home at any minute. I laughed without a care, shook off Elliot's hand, and walked to the dining room without looking back.

I said coldly. Tears streamed down his face. He kept begging, "I'm dying of regret. I live in hell every day. Give me another chance. I'll make it up to you. I didn't marry Sarah. Come back and remarry me, okay?" He lunged toward me. Garth grabbed his wrist, twisted the knife away, and tossed it. "What's your problem? Leave before I call 911," Garth yelled, shielding me. ... I was invited to the year-end party hosted by a partner company. As soon as I reached the entrance of the banquet hall, I saw the last person I wanted to see. Timmy Sunderland. He was holding a thick stack of papers and handing them out one by one to the guests going in and out. When I walked past him, he did not even look up as he handed me a sheet. "Hello, if your company has any open positions, please consider me first. This is my resume."
