Pilot 소설 & 이야기

The cursor blinks like a heartbeat. “Call your pilot,” Harry says. “Tell him to prep the jet.” There — the opening. I nod, and pretend to pull contacts. My thumb lands on a name I have used before for emergencies. The pilot answers on the second ring, a voice like gravel and loyalty. “Sterling.” He is all business. “You okay?”

Mikhail asks and I look at him confused. “Excuse me? “What do you prefer? “Isn't there a pilot?” I ask confused. “He's a good copilot, but, as a pilot, he's still lacking. I have requested the presence of our pilot, but, he is not in the country, as is his replacement. And whoever is in the country, it would take at least three hours to get here. >> So, your only option is me, well, if you don't want to wait for our pilot. Which, if you decide, I will understand perfectly.” Mikhail says while I'm trying to process how a doctor would b

But when we touch down, it’s surprisingly gentle. “They said there will be someone to greet you,” the pilot says through the headphones. “Someone waiting.” “Who?” I ask. “Who’s waiting?” I see the pilot shrug. He doesn’t turn around. Again I have the thought that he doesn’t want to see my face, or maybe it’s that he doesn’t want me to see his. As it is, I couldn’t pick him out of a lineup. “I don’t know,” he says, his tone flat and not inviting further questions.

How long have we been flying already? It can't be up to an hour yet. Our pilot is a tall middle aged man with the most serious face I have ever seen. He didn't smile once during our onboarding and he was very polite and professional. I don't know if I would ever get used to the respect and honour I get placed on when I am with Linc.

I connected my laptop to the projector. “Captain Tanner, the presentation is limited to forty minutes. “Save the personal matters for after.” The people on the client’s side let out a chuckle. George’s face went stiff. He barely said anything throughout. While discussing passengers’ peace of mind, I flipped to a slide. “Public confidence in airline staff is built on the crew’s professional consistency and proper boundaries. “A competent pilot should not bring personal emotions into the narrative of public safety.” George looked up at me. I didn’t shy away from his gaze.

"Work faster." He ended the call. Less than ten minutes later, another message appeared. We have movement. Kane opened it. He's at the airport . We're tracing his route. Another message arrived. Possible destination: Milan. Kane's eyes narrowed. Milan. So that was his game. Run. Hide. Wait until everything cooled down. Then come back when he needed something. Kane knew men like him. They didn't disappear because they wanted peace. They disappeared because they were preparing their next move.

He whispered so low, as if I wasn’t supposed to hear it, but somehow, I did. “What did you say?” I whispered, my brows furrowed in confusion. “Sick? How? You don’t look sick….maybe we should head back home.” I rushed out, and it registered in my brain that the pilot was staring at me…so how have we not crashed yet? “Kirill….look ahead! You’re the pilot.”

“We butt heads on occasion.” The dude checked his watch. “Time to hit the road, or the sky, I suppose,” he said. “Where the f**k is Jordan? You can’t fly a plane without a pilot.” “I thought you were our pilot,” Jessica said. “Copilot. I don’t have enough flight hours. No worries. Jordan is awesome. She used to fly a Harrier in the Royal Navy.” She used to fly a Harrier? An attractive blonde dressed like a pilot (thank God) in a trim blue skirt suit and doofusey pill-shaped hat entered the plane and poked the copilot in the shoulder.
