The Mate Agreement
I unpin my hair and shake it, flinging droplets of rain.
I can still hear the soft echoes of the song from the ballroom, and like a mad woman, I begin to twirl barefoot in the rain, dancing, crying, singing along; the splash of muddy water that clung to the grasses ruining my dress. But I don’t care.
I keep spinning, my hands extended, welcoming the rain.
