The smell of someone else’s detergent. A glass of water left on the counter like it was intentional. She isn’t scared. She’s unsettled. The chapter doesn’t explain why she’s there. It doesn’t give context. It just sits with her thoughts as she moves through the space, feeling slightly displaced from her own life.

My subconscious mind warns me, and I quickly comport myself. "I just went through the first ten Chapters of your work, and I think the problem is in the sixth chapter, where it's supposed to be locked from when it's published..." He pauses and drops the book on the desk. "You know, if the free chapters are not captivating enough, then readers won't think of going further into the book.
