His Mail Order Bride
Slowly, I walk towards it, sitting at the edge of the pond.
Though the night is cold, I can barely feel it as I stare at the pond, a sense of calm and tranquility washes over me. I watch as the Koi fishes glide effortlessly in the water, their tails trailing behind them in a peaceful rhythm. For a second, I'm grateful for a place like this in this house. The noise in my head dies down and I want to cry, except there's no tears left in me. So I just sit there, numb.
