It was a massive, soundproof private gym outfitted with bags, weight racks, and a sprawling, black padded sparring mat in the center of the room. The air smelled faintly of chalk and cold steel. I was wearing a pair of black leggings and a fitted athletic top, barefoot on the mat. Aziel didn't waste time on a gentle warm-up. He stepped onto the mat, grabbed my hands, and began tightly wrapping my knuckles with the black tape. His large hands felt rough and calloused against mine.
