Lyra POV Shadow padded toward me, his massive paws silent on the mossy ground. His eyes—Ronon’s eyes, yet softer—glowed like embers in the dim light filtering through the trees. I hesitated for a breath, unsure if I should move, but Shadow nuzzled me gently, the warmth of his fur brushing against my skin.

An Alpha growl. “Adrian,” I hiss, then ignore him as Nyx pushes further in the dark passage. Suddenly, Nyx stops moving. My gaze drops and I see it. A shadow clinging to Cassie's leg, stretching long and twisted. ‘What’s that?’ I snap at Nyx. ‘Rogue's shade,’ he growls at the same time as Adrian. I can tell he already knows what that shadow is too. The shadow turns slowly towards us and busses when it sees us. Its claws scrape against the floor, then it vanishes into the air.
