What was left of the fruit was discarded on the floor next to the bed; a problem for tomorrow. Turning away from Elliot, I rubbed away the tears from the sides of my face, ignoring the discomfort of my damp pillow, and pulling up the thick layer of blankets to my chin. The sound of thunder vibrated from the nightstand, lulling me into a deep sleep.

Her eyes started to close, and she fell asleep with her book in her hand.
