he asks and I cackled. "I'm sorry," I laugh once more and he shakes his head. "I meant, would you forgive a person in general, if they tried to...you know, take advantage of you." I say once I've recovered. He thought for a while. "No." "Why?" "My good opinion once lost, is lost forever." he answers with an unbearable accent and waves his head in exaggeration and I laugh at him again. "You did not just quote Mr. Darcy." He laughs with me. "Pride and Prejudice stuck with me back at sophomore year, you can't blame me."

, I was never going to get in a habit of the mojo he does. “Well I went up there to bring this book for you, I know you are doing English major in your university and I also got to know you are a big fan of Jane Austin so I thought to give you a present of Pride and prejudice first ever edition, trust me it is very limited”, fir the first time I could see the spark in Elvin eyes when he giving me the book. “So you were there when it got published”, I asked with so much excitement for the first time both of us were excited, “I’ve had my ways”, he chuckled.

As the wrapping paper falls away, a book is revealed. Max turns it around in his hands, "Pride and Prejudice?" Embarrassment wracks her nerves with the worry that he won't like the gift. "I know you said you loved the book growing up. I'm sure you already have it, but I wanted to get you a nice, leatherbound version. They even engraved your name on the inside. A first edition was too expensive for me, unfortunately." Max stares at the cover, his mouth hanging open. When he regains his words, he says, "Maryanne. . . I don't know what to say. It's very sweet."

My mind needs to just clear out for a moment so I can just relax. A few minutes later Ashlynn comes back with a large bowl of popcorn and two bottles of water. She smiles at me before she gets herself settled in my bed, setting the large bowl on her lap. She grabs the remote and presses play on the movie, which was Pride and Prejudice. I read the book back in high school but I don't remember it at all. "Do you like this movie?" I ask her. "I love the book, it's one of my favorites. I have never seen the movie though," she tells me. "I didn't even know there was a movie until earlier today actually."

Francoise tried to excuse herself but Hugo stopped her. "Oh nonsense, you're my sister. It's fine. Right, Babe?" Hugo looked at me with a face saying, 'Let's just bear with it for now', and smiled. "Yes, of course. We were already enjoying the night with your energy Francie." I said with a persuasive tone. "But you guys are so sweet! It makes me want to have a boyfriend too! Do you think I should get married already? I mean I am eighteen now." "Well, the guy has to pass through me first." Hugo acted like a strict brother but I can see that he was not even sincere about it.

I said waving the book at his face. "Can I see? he inquired smiling. I nodded and stretched the book to him. "Slave to the Ruthless Master" he read aloud raising his brows. "This is an 18+ rated story" he said and eyed me. "What? I'm almost 18. It's just two months remaining" I defended. And it's not as if I haven't seen worse. What could be worse than what I caught Jayden doing today in the washroom? It's a human story that talked about a girl whom was sold by her father to a ruthless master who killed people without a second thought.

"But yet you're giving all sorts of praises to Pride and Prejudice?" "Mr. Darcy was smitten by Elizabeth the very first time he led eyes on her. But then his ego and pride made him a complete jerk to her. While Elizabeth on the other hand was driven by prejudice and never once sort to see what he did and why he did it. She always jumped to conclusions without hearing from his side," he shrugged. "Now that, my darling girlfriend, is what makes a book a good read." A strange feeling swelled up inside of me at the way he called me his girlfriend. He only ever said it once and I didn't mind him saying it over and over again.

The quiet of the library, which moments ago felt peaceful, now feels laden with tension. I stand abruptly, needing to break the moment before I do something impulsive. "Can we explore more of the library? I'd love to see what's in some of these sections." "Of course," Armani says, rising smoothly. If he's disappointed by the change in direction, he doesn't show it. "I think you'll particularly enjoy the rare books collection. They have a first edition of *Pride and Prejudice*." "Are you serious?" My literary heart skips a beat. "That's my favorite book of all time."
