“I can’t—” I push her away as my spine arches involuntarily, and my nails lengthen. I hear my bones grind as my skin stretches. The shift hits me like a hammer. Nikola is forcing a shift. Zarina’s composure slips—just barely. “No—no. Ash, stay with me. You cannot shift right now.” Like hell I’m doing this on purpose. “I’m not—doing—this—” Nikola snarls madly inside my skull. “They poisoned us! LET ME OUT—”!”

But amidst the tempestuous storm of sensations, a sudden realization pierced through Emma's ecstasy. Why was she finding his closeness comforting? Her pulse quickened. No, this was wrong. It's absurd. Absolutely horrendous. It was anything but right. She felt a sudden need to flee, to hide somewhere from his piercing gaze, from her own thoughts, and the harsh realities of her life. "I…I need to go!" With a mixture of longing and confusion, she broke away, and left, leaving behind a trail of unquenched desire. Hurt, angry, and confused, she hurried back inside with her heart racing and her mind in turmoil.

At first , her hand forms a circle and then a triangle – her mouth vomit words that none of us understand. “Who are you and what do you think you are doing?!” Andrew asks again , before raising to his feet. However , the woman continues to ignore him and chant. “This is your last warning to speak –“ Britney and I , watch in absolute horror as a small wave of some sort emits from her hands which begins to float towards us. Andrew is the first to come into contact with it , and this making him fall to the fall with a heavy thud. I rise from my bed , watching as Britney also fall unconscious by it’s touch – my sudden movement earns me a growl from the wolf. I start backing away , trying my har

I think my slap has reminded her of her place , as she does not move or speak…But , oh how wrong was I. My mind is swamped with different thoughts and ways of punishing – ways to break this sudden spirit of hers. I stand up , her eyes follow my movement. I slowly towards my favorite place in the room. I approach the round cylindered piece of golden wood – a place where my worries float away , and so does my conciseness. A diamond like glinting shine radiates from the expensive bottle. I take hold of it , it’s lines and work is so precise – it is simply beautiful. It’s beauty camouflages the flowing poison inside. A trick…a beautiful trick.

The air smelled clean, the lights warm, the shelves tall and perfect. “Choose the book that pulls you,” the woman said. “It will tell you what you need.” She vanished into the shadows. I walked along the shelves. My hand stopped on one book, not because I liked it, but because something in me reacted. A strange pull. The title was old, written in faded ink:” The Nature of the Cursed: shifters of the Moon.” My fingers trembled as I opened it. Inside were sketches, human shadows twisted into wolves, claws emerging from the hands, glowing eyes in the darkness. I swallowed hard.

I blinked several times with anticipation, running a finger down his cheek as I eyed his hesitance. "But what?"I whispered, leaning in impatiently. The bookcase wasn't a very comfortable thing to be pushed up against, either, the spines of the shelved volumes pricked at my back. I squirmed between the shelf and West's body, trying to get control over my skyrocketing heartbeat. "You have to understand, I'm not from a normal family," he almost whimpered, his lower lip quivering. "Like hell if I care," having waited enough, I leaned closer. Only I wasn't leaning closer, I was falling back. Because something very powerful had made the bookshelf move, and instead of neatly arranged books, there w

I was a few steps ahead of Rhodes and I made a split second decision, swallowing my pride and turning around, unbuttoning the dark plaid shirt I was wearing before him. "Theo, what the Hell are you doing?" Rhodes snarled, averting his eyes from me as I undressed. "My gut tells me that my dream last night was a warning that the confines of that cave are more dangerous than we think. I'm shifting." I said calmly, moving on to unbuckling my belt and shrugging off my shoes. "You're shifting?" he said, his tone mocking in disbelief. "Yes, Alpha," I said coldly, spitting my words at him as though they were laced with acid, "Shifting. Order me to stop, if you must, but I'm following my instincts."

Yet, amidst the darkness, a flicker of hope ignited—a belief that this unforeseen turn of events could potentially work in our favor. Bound by the chains that held me captive, I strained against their constraints, testing the limits of my captivity. The darkness amplified my senses, allowing me to perceive the subtlest shifts in the environment. With each breath, I could discern the presence of the shapeshifters, their weighty existence permeating the stillness.

Especially when you have a shifter running through your back yard who decides to change back into human form and check things out. But now everything was changing. The whole game plan. Because now he wanted the book and Jamie. He closed his eyes for a moment and he was back in that house naked and aroused. Jamie dozed in the chair, the book open on her lap, Mischief curled up on her lap. He'd waited to see if the cat would react, but black cats liked shifters and she was apparently no exception. He was torn between the rampant need for sex and the equally strong desire to get a look at that book.
