Jeez, no pressure or anything. While Puck was kind of a weirdo, an outcast, he had a way with ladies. He was definitely a fairy that wouldn’t be settling down, not when he could have his pick of so many eligible females on the island. He was overly tall, far too skinny. Awkward and clumsy. Weird shaped nose and his hair was always a total mess. But apparently, irresistible. He’d spent years trying to give Liam advice, who knows if it did anything. I could count on one hand how many females I knew for sure Liam had been with.

And at the same time, two voices from the other side simultaneously shouted. “Run!” “Takbo!” Then sunddenly a water type like net tried to hold off the giant white bunny as if it was catching its prey. This huge water net had a faint blue thread at end and was connected to Lord Ethan. On the other hand, a dozen of mid-size stone spears started attacking the same bunny. The bunny started to step back after three stone spears hit its left foot. Those mid-size stone spears were created by none other than Kaiden.

But I must have lost my mind to think it would understand the silent threat. "I want it! I want this unicorn!" "Anya, that's not a unicorn. That's... that's a very huge dog." "But I want it! Daddy said I can take one pet I like; I want to take this one, Ate Anya, please!" Willy grimaced at me. He knew it wasn't a good idea, so I silently asked for his help. "Uh... Anya, dear, that one is not up for adoption yet. This will be your first pet, right? Why don't you look for the other cute ones in this line—"

The whole thing lasted under thirty seconds. "Is Liam giving them a shakedown?" Jenny asked. I watched him crouch down and pull something from the bag of one of the boys on the ground… what looked like cash. And then straighten back up with it, unhurried, like the entire thing was routine. ‘Sly Fox.’ The name sat in my head differently now than it had when Jenny first said it. I had assumed it was the kind of nickname people gave themselves in those circles…exaggerated, self-constructed and even more about image than reality.

Poppy took over before we could start fighting like two adults who should have known better. “I’ll be quick.” “And don’t forget the croissants with the crunchy ends.” “I won’t.” “And don’t buy the almond ones. Bunny is allergic.” I looked at Bunny, lying on the chair beside her. “Bunny is made of fabric, Pop.” “Bunny still has bodily rights.” Sebastian nodded as if that were a valid business statement. “Sure, Princesa.” Poppy kissed the iPad screen loudly. “Bye, Daddy!” “Bye, Capitano.”

A guy I recognized from the Falcons, Kowalski, I think, was swaying in front of me, beer sloshing over his knuckles. His eyes were glassy, his grin ugly. His team had won, and he was celebrating hard.

I walked in and saw him. Riven was on the ice, alone, stick in hand, angrily shooting pucks. Most of them missed. He looked exhausted, furious, and completely broken. “Fuck!” he yelled, kicking the puck away in frustration. I stepped onto the ice, my voice soft. “Was that ‘fuck’ or ‘puck’?” Riven spun around, eyes widening when he saw me. “No pun intended,” I winked. “How do you know I would be here?
