Maya, her keen eyes scanning the shelves, pointed towards a central chamber at the back of the library. As they approached the chamber, the whispers grew louder, morphing into distinct words, tempting promises of unimaginable power. Jonas, his grip tightening on his fragment, focused his energy, forming a shield of light that protected them from the insidious whispers.

A faint tremor rippled through the ground beneath their feet. Above them, the fracture twitched. Then something strange happened. A whisper. Soft. Barely audible. But unmistakable. Seraphine heard it inside her head. A voice. Not a language she recognized… yet somehow she understood every word. Guardian… Her breath caught. Avyanna decided that tonight Midnight would shimmer like stars in the sky. She applied delicately mild makeup on her face. Avyanna decorated her eyelids with silver and glossed up her lips. It gave her an angelic look. Her gray eyes stood out and plump pink lips bubbled and shimmered.

Daphne laughs at something Midnight says, her eyes crinkling with joy, even as she plies her needle to hem the head-to-toe black outfit that she made Midnight as a gift for Midwinter. Ben, Elias, and Pippa stand at Midnight’s other side, curiously watching Daphne’s process and chatting softly. Pippa presses a sleeping Bianca to her chest, the little girl – nearly one year’s old – slumped with exhaustion, her head on her mother’s shoulder. “Why does Mids even need a spy disguise,” Rafe murmurs, laughing even as he sips more of the champagne. “She just…sinks into the shadows anyway.”

Perfectly matching Wisteria's. "Zara... Please, this way." Kael slowly drew his sword. "The whispers... They've learned her voice." The cavern fell silent once more. Then, somewhere deep in the darkness... Something laughed, it didn't sound like it was human and it definitely wasn't Wisteria. The laughter died down quickly. Silence rushed back into the cavern again, thick enough to make Zara wonder if it was just her imagination. But certainly not, she hadn't imagined it. This place was playing tricks with her head.

“ Meara!” The whispers started again, soft but notable. I tensed, my eyes snapping open. I scanned the field, but there was no one in sight. The sound seemed to come from the tree itself, from the rustling of its leaves. I pressed my palms against the rough bark and closed my eyes, focusing on the whispers. " Come... find... me..." The words were faint but distinct. My heart raced. Was I losing my mind, or was there something more to these whispers? I stood up, brushing the dirt off my jeans, and took a few steps back. The whispers grew louder, more insistent.

Eddy answered cheekily. I smiled watching the two wolves chase each other around once more. Something nudged my back and I turned an ice dagger at the ready. I blinked, a large black wolf panted staring at me expectantly. Its midnight black fur lush while its wild sapphire eyes blinked at me in amusement. “Justin?” I questioned lowering the ice dagger having it disperse into snow once more. The wolf dipped its head tail thumping as it lay down beside me. “Have you ever shifted before?” Justin's voice was quiet echoing down the link. He seemed unbothered by me almost stabbing him.

Her limbs no longer obeyed her. And then, all she heard was the faint thud of her own body hitting the ground. If happy little bluebirds fly beyond the rainbow Why, oh why can't I? She fought to keep her eyes open, but her vision was already blurring. Through the haze, she caught sight of a little girl crying…a flash of white dress, a blur of red roses swirling before her eyes. The sounds of sobs and screams grew louder, echoing all around her, until everything faded into darkness.

Alone. Staring at the cracked mirror. He didn’t see his reflection. He saw the city. Its cracks. Its scars. Its strength. He whispered, “If you’re watching, Dominion… then watch closely.” As if in answer, a faint rustle echoed from the rafters above. A Whisper operative shifted quietly in the shadows, breath light, body still. He had heard everything. He slipped away through the beams without a sound. And far beyond the ridge, Dominion received the message they had hoped to hear:
