Bound by His Promise
“I… I don’t want to think right now.”
He paused, searching my face, then slowly stood. He offered his hand. I took it. No questions, no explanations.
We moved toward the couch. The city lights flickered across the walls, and the rain’s rhythm filled the silence between us.
“Sometimes,” I whispered, “I wonder if peace even exists—or if we just create moments to escape the pain.”
Lucas leaned close, his voice barely a breath. “Then let’s create one now.”
And just like that, I stopped thinking.
