[3:32pm] I ran towards the garden, very expectant. I walked to the bench where we normally sat and looked all around it but there was nothing. Absolutely nothing. My last hope was dashed and I felt my knees weaken. A strong wind blew across and I noticed that the sky wasn't looking so kind. I sat down on the bench hoping to gather strength to walk back to my room and face the reality that had just dawned on me. I looked up at the roof of the shade and noticed a thick white note sticking out from one of its ends. I could swear that paper wasn't there the previous day.

Synth and Drago did the same thing, and then rogues and rebels emerged from the shadows, including the prisoners who had escaped from the Hidden Valley. As the thunder strikes, the Alphas growled once more, expressing their power and rage. The clear skies with stars are no longer visible because they have been replaced by dark clouds and lightning. The warriors attacked their opponents right on cue after another lightning strike. Then, as soon as their fangs had reached their flesh, rain began to fall from the sky, intensifying their rage and desire to kill.

I'd do it for anyone in the group. That reply makes me pause for a moment because it's true. They are a close group of friends and they come off as people who would definitely step up to help someone out. But this isn't a flat tire or a simple dinner check. I whispered to the empty room. By the time evening arrived the next day, the entire campus of Black Ridge had transformed. The ordinary, dreary stone corridors were alive with the sound of laughter, rustling silk, and the hum of high-tier magic. Everywhere I looked, girls were using minor charms to make their hair shimmer like starlight or adjusting the fit of their designer gowns with a wave of a hand. I stood in front of our small dorm mirror, adjusting the straps of a simple, dark emerald dress I’d found at a thrift shop before term started. No magic. Just fabric and a prayer.

The rest all have this same deep forest green cloak over their clothing. I’m not sure if the Rift is slowing down the battle for my sake or if I am so used to watching battle that it feels as if time has slowed, but the black and grey cloaked figures appear to be all male based on size and the width of their shoulders. Their movements are broad and sharp, more aggressive. The forest green cloaks seem to be more ceremonial, with flecks of something metallic woven in. Not something you would see on a traveller. Their movements seem to be more fluid.

Marcus asks with an incredulous glance. Cassidy shrugs. "They don't give a shit about weed, we just can't be high on the field, bro." "See, I knew I was right." Because Camille suddenly gasped. “Oh my God,” she murmured, gaping between me and Hayden with sudden realization. “Black Crimson isn’t just one person. You guys are like the Brothers Hildebrandt.” She spun to address my brother. “Aren’t you?”
