I make myself another coffee. I sit at the kitchen table across from Rafe and his unread book, and we drink our coffee in the quiet morning, and for the first time in weeks I am not bracing for anything at all.

Nikki hurried over to the table, took all the books she had briefly read. "Sorry, my place is a bit messy." "No problem. Let me help," he said, picking up all the scattered books and grabbing the books that were in Nikki's hand. "Where do you put all of these?" Nikki pointed to a bookcase near the living room. "Okay."

I said as I buried my face in my palms. I packed up my things and turned all the lights in my office, it was almost time for Maghrib. I needed to hurry home. " You should go home Ruqayyah, come on I'll take you" I called as I saw her reading a book immediately I walked out of my office. “It’s the least I can do. I can’t just be sitting around doing nothing. Let me do something useful.” He looked at me, long and hard, as though trying to see through me. “Fine,” he muttered finally, leaning back in his chair. “Just don’t break anything.” Relief poured through me like warm water. I smiled and turned to the shelves. The books were in a chaotic mess. Their titles were hidden beneath dust, pages sticking out, their old leather spines bent out of shape. I started from the lower rows, slowly pulling out each book and setting them aside in neat piles.

Chapter 70 I am now sitting by myself in the living room, and at the same time reading the books from under the table. I was just seriously reading something I didn’t even mind about the surroundings when the chair I was sitting on all of a sudden moved on its own. I was startled knowing that I am just alone in here, but why all of a sudden my chair moved even if I didn’t move it myself personally.

This might have simply been the best day of my life. I was in high spirits after supper and Tory mentioned it. After carrying Rie's books, I dropped them at her desk and despite the little voice warning me, I snooped around a bit. Her desk is organized save for a few sticky notes and pens here and there. She has a slightly loopy handwriting that's adorable. I dropped the books on top of her desk when her deskmate came in and pretended to have dropped my pen.

Books are meant to be read, not sit in a shiny glass case for the rest of its life. I still lay there staring blankly at nothing while tracing the beautiful design of the book with my finger, as it lays closely to my face. There is no rhyme or reason to this situation, little did I know the night I was almost raped, I would meet an even bigger obstacle than that.

The only thing that would pop up is worries of her friend, Meagan. Vastria groaned as she closed the book and put it back on the shelf. She cannot take her mind off her worries with these books. She made her way back down leaving the books she forgot to put away on the table hoping no one would touch them since she still wanted to read through them.

It was my favorite part of the room. It seemed to contain everything from fiction to textbooks to non fiction and biographies. A smooth oak table carved in a semicircle faced the bookshelf directly. I sat behind the table in one of the two comfy brown chairs. My bag sat at my feet and a beautifully reading lamp hung overhead, currently switched off because the light from the floor to ceiling windows was more than sufficient. Micah was running a little late today which was okay I guessed. He was always early afterall.

When I was done I quickly washed up and went back into the living room. I was in a hurry to continue reading my book, I was engrossed with it since it was the only thing I could do here. Plus it was really interesting. I picked it up from the stack on the small coffee table by the couch that Latifah had bought. I sat on the couch and continued where I left off.
