Akyran's Folly
He asked, the noise of his voice hidden beneath the shrill screeched of bats and monster alike.
“Kill it?” I suggested.
“Good idea,” he agreed.
I drew my skeletons out of the forest in a ring around the monster, drawing its eye from the bats to the new prey. For a moment it and the skeletons were still and then it launched itself at them with a scuttling speed that reminded me of a cockroach. As it tossed the skeletons high, Phantom and I struck, running between its spiny legs, to its underbelly, stabbing our blades into the join between the armor that protected its core.
