On my signal we entered. In the center of the room was a chair with wires and cables connected to a body strapped down. From first glimpse it looked like a ghoul. What are they doing? "Raven the witch!" Dustin called pointing to the elegant dark figure coming towards me. Her eyes were completely black, her skin as white as snow, jet black hair flowing behind her as she raced toward me. Still out of bullets I raised my blades prepared to take her on.

At 5'10", her presence commanded attention, but she preferred to stay unnoticed. Her dark skin glowed under the morning sun, and her eyes, a striking shade of amber, held secrets untold. She pulled her hood tighter, hoping to shield herself from the prying eyes she could already feel on her. She sighed, remembering the last town, the last school, the last narrow escape. The coven was always a step behind her, their sinister intentions cloaked in shadow but ever-present. She couldn’t afford to grow attached, couldn’t afford to make friends or enemies. But she knew this routine all too well. Blend in, keep your head down, and move on before anyone gets too close.

“So, just wearing these makes it impossible for them to find me? No one will pull me into the Dream Realm. Or track me? Is that right? Are you sure?” Raven asked. She stared at the heavy necklace that now hung around her neck. It looked like a cheap piece of costume jewelry and nothing special at all. Tarnished silver.

I noticed that I have been changed clothes, and that made me even more irritated. "Who told you to change my clothes?" I faced the Were named Galland, and gritted my teeth.

“Murderer! Where’s my sister?!” A girl pushed through the crowd, her face streaked with tears and dust. She grabbed another stone, rage twisting her features. Before she could throw it, someone moved faster. A tall figure stepped between us, his arm coming up just in time to block the blow. The world seemed to still. I looked up, and there he was. Alaric. The Raven King himself. His eyes… deep, stormy gray, locked on mine. His jaw tightened as he turned to glare at the crowd, his presence alone enough to make grown men bow their heads.

He spoke quietly. It seemed that, unlike Arden, he knew how to keep his anger on a leash. Yet my heart raced wildly against my chest because of what I heard. If this involved my mother and me, did that mean these people had a hidden motive? or Mr. Ravenchi?
