I tried to look outside; it may seem like a normal day with people walking around but this is all a façade. “Monsters in human form,” I muttered as I continue to stop the bleeding of my legs. “We’re not as bad as you think.” A cloud of dust was blown on my face and suddenly, I lost my sight and felt the urge to close my eyes and sleep. I woke up with a cold feeling on my cheeks, the werewolf with silver eyes is tapping his hands on my cheeks when I opened my eyes. “Convel, you used too much grovel mushroom.” He stopped tapping my cheeks and looked at the man behind him, the man with blue eyes.

One of the creatures running towards Wymond with great speed, I looked towards Wymond and saw him searching elder Marshall's passed out body -I guess he's searching for the pearl bead. He wouldn't hear even if I try to call him, not with all these growling and yelling...with that thought I ran out of my hiding spot. "Ara, get back here!" Renee shouted but I ignored her. The creature raised its blade like arm to stab Wymond from behind, but I pushed Wymond away and it stabbed my stomach right before I could jump away -a little below my abdomen. "Baby!" "Ara!" Wymond and Renee shouted respectively.

We even mapped escape routes and pinpointed weak spots in his security. We were going in. Alive capture only. Marco strapped explosives to his tactical vest, grimacing like it left a bad taste in his mouth. “Last time I used a stun grenade, I was fourteen. Felt like I was throwing firecrackers in a gunfight.” Aurora adjusted the vest over her torso as Marco helped her fasten the final clip. “As much as I want to kill that motherfucker, I can’t. Not until Sammy’s back. So yeah—kiddie bombs it is.”

I didn't dare imagine how terrifying it would be if that blade had struck me instead. Seeing me dodge only enraged Rosa more, and her eyes turned bloodshot. "Bitch, go to hell!" She found a burst of strength out of nowhere. Yanking the machete free, she swung it at me again. Just seconds before the blade sliced into me, a strong hand caught it in midair. I looked up, and there was Dexter. He didn't look like the clean, sharp young man I was used to. His eyes were dark with exhaustion, and his jaw was covered in scruff. Clearly, he hadn't stopped searching for me since the moment I disappeared.

I seized the opportunity and volunteered, saying, "I've heard that beastmen are quite knowledgeable about pacifying souls." Mother said urgently, "I'll find someone. How can those crude beastmen possibly..." Before she could finish, an elderly relative quickly stopped her. "Don't! It's so late already. Why create more trouble?" He turned to the beastmen. "Please begin." The mourners nodded and surrounded Victoria, beginning to chant incantations. Seeing that it was only chanting, both Mother and the fake-dead Victoria breathed sighs of relief. However, at the next moment, a strong wind began blowing through the funeral hall.

"Cameron Stuart! Just how much more trouble are you trying to cause me!" Natalie Parker's shrill voice rang in my ears, jolting me awake. The moment I opened my eyes, I saw her raising a bottle of sulfuric acid to splash it on me. Recalling the unbearable agony that overwhelmed me in my previous life, I instinctively reached out to grab the bottle. Still, some of the liquid splashed out anyway, dripping onto my body. I gasped in pain. After exhaling deeply, I clenched my jaw and caught Natalie by the wrist. "Are you mad? You can kill someone if you throw an entire bottle of sulfuric acid at them! Don't you know that?"

Dominant. The driver’s side window rolled down halfway. A man I didn’t recognize leaned out—mid-thirties, rough-looking, scar across his chin. Not Marcus. Something in my chest twisted. “Wrong house,” the man said casually. Dante didn’t stop walking. “I don’t think so.” The passenger door opened. Another man stepped out. Bigger. Meaner. His eyes flicked toward me for half a second— And smiled. My stomach dropped. “They know you,” Luca murmured behind me.

Chapter 22: Solo Boss Fight The big black monster smashed into the concrete path with a loud crash that shook the whole wall beneath my feet. The concrete broke under its weight sending small gray rocks bouncing over the edge. Up Close, the monster was really scary. It was over nine feet tall with muscles that looked like wet leather in the dim morning light. It smelled like metal and rotting wood. It did not have hands; its long arms ended in thick curved bones that looked sharp enough to cut through a car engine. Its chest moved as it breathed, blowing a bad smell right into my face.

I know Niobe and Selene said that our children were protected, but I can’t turn off my almost instant protective instincts. I was able to get away from the robo monster with Danielle and Demitri’s help. She had me lead it to the fountain in the packhouse courtyard. I was just barely able to stay out of his grasp though. These monsters move so unnaturally to the element they are made from. This solid metal guy moves as though he is made of rubber, but I found out the hard way, he is solid metal, my broken right hand proves it. Daneille started shooting him with water, distracting him enough to let me get away with Demitri so we could fight the flame monster.
