With a casual flick of his wrist, he deflected the fire, and then, with blinding speed, his hands shot out, catching my wrists in an iron grip, forcing me still, the last remnants of my struggle dying in a frustrated whimper.

“Damn it.” Lena gritted her teeth. They needed more than weapons. They needed fire. She clenched her fists, summoning every ounce of power within her. The Riftfire didn’t resist—it rushed to her call, crackling at her fingertips, singing beneath her skin. It was hers. She was the Riftfire. The creatures lunged. Lena slammed her hands together. A pulse of Rift energy exploded outward, a shockwave of violet flames that swept across the cavern like a storm. The creatures screamed—a soundless, mind-breaking wail—as the fire tore through them, unmaking them at the very core.

Markus called out loudly for everyone to hear, turning his horse around to stop next to Rector. A deafening roar soon echoed out across the field, followed closely by a loud whizzing sound, looking over, Rex noticed it was green fireballs that were about to be rained down upon them, taking in a deep breath, he told himself, ‘So it begins, first try and thin out the numbers, then a charge, typical old school.’ ‘Do not become overconfident’ Fafnir warned.

The scenes from before were still fresh in her memory, and the pillar of fire that she had conjured to consume the figures of C and D after seeing how they had obtained Red’s power was a memory that she would never forget.
