I bit the inside of my cheek, hard, using the pain to resist his Alpha command. I sneered, “Don’t think you can control me.” I shoved him away and turned toward the door.

I shifted back a little, trying to piece together what was going on. "You slapped the Lycan king?" Alpha Jackson asked. He looked somewhat disappointed in me. "Why don't you ask him what he did?" I fired, facing the man. I didn't know he was the Lycan king but that didn't make what he did right. "What did I do?" He asked daringly. I looked unbelievably at him as he tried to deny my claims. His eyes turned golden yellow, as though daring me to speak up. His aura sent chills down my spine and for some time, I lost my voice. He seemed so dangerous. I felt if he looked at me for another minute, I would drop dead.
