Chapter 13: Trouble in Paradise Rhys’s P.O.V: A vicious growl tore through me as I watched Zyane about to do the unthinkable. The growl distracted Zyane enough to snap his attention towards me, but all he did was growl at me in rage before turning back towards the cowering girl he had trapped under him by force. Knowing that I was the closest one to him, I jumped up on top of one of the rocks and in one swift motion, landed right behind Zyane and sank my teeth into his shoulders to rip him off of the girl and throw Zyane away from her.

Rhys whispered holding my arm but I pulled away and continued. The pack members quieted, turning their attention to me. “I know there have been rumors and concerns about Rhys’s position as Alpha,” I began, trying to keep my voice steady. “I’ve heard about the council’s doubts and the accusations of neglect.” There were a few nods and murmurs of agreement from the crowd. I continued, “But I want to set the record straight. Rhys hasn’t been neglecting his duties. He’s been away because he came to rescue me when I was kidnapped. And,” I added, pausing for effect, “I’m pregnant with his child. Our heir.”

She didn’t sleep as she spent the remainder of the night chatting with Matasia. Alejandro and Matasia led her to the central point of the compound. Riwik stood in the middle. Behind him, was a fountain spewing lava instead of water. “Blue Thunder, I heard so much about you. More than I should have, considering how young you are. You are making many people angry,” said Riwik, closing his eyes for a moment. “I sensed someone like you before, but I can’t remember from where. Your energy signature is a lot more potent than the one I remember. Glad to see you standing with us.”

When she speaks again she stumbles on her words. "But... How... Why?" Her curiousity is legitimate, but I prefer not to reveal the reasons that prompted Draven to explain everything to me. It would be only make matters worse between her and the Bathory's. "I'm telling you they're but who you think they are, they protect me, they take care of me.
