The massive black wolf followed at a respectful distance as Casie led their strange procession into the darkness of the woods. They ran through the night, three wolves and Elias in human form, moving with supernatural speed away from the approaching authorities. Rick stumbled occasionally, still adjusting to four legs instead of two, but his instincts were strong. Casie slowed beside him each time he faltered, offering silent encouragement through their strengthening bond.

He was truly something to see. Without any hesitation, Adrian turned and gestured for both Lily and me to climb onto his back. I paused for a second, feeling every pair of eyes on the field looking at me. Normally, only a mate was allowed to ride a wolf, and I could see the pack noticing, some of them not pleased. But Lily, full of joy and energy as always, tugged on my arm and pulled me forward. Her happiness was impossible to resist. I could not take this moment from her.

The five warriors guarding the gate said they saw two wolves galloping and two women sitting on the back of one

It was as hilarious as it was painful. Wolves were not made for riding. Well, not in their beast forms, anyway. We made it to my old pack sometime around noon. Even though I recognized the woodsy cabins and sprawling backroads carving through town, the entire place felt foreign and strange.

As she looked across the clearing it was filled with wolves, black, brown, grey, sable, and one lone white wolf. He was immense and stood on the precipice, watching those below. A black wolf that was just as big approached and stood by his side. They exchanged glances and looked in her direction. She had to side step to avoid being bowled over by the gigantic black panther that barreled past her on her way to the top of the bluff. She rubbed her body along the side of the white wolf. She purred as he licked her head.
