Come on now, those traps won’t check themselves.”

Her warriors drew weapons, the metallic slide of steel loud in the stillness. “Shields up! Keep them off the handler!” Raven barked. The first beast lunged from the right, a blur of mottled muscle. Raven met it mid-air, claws raking deep. It shrieked, snapping for her throat, but she twisted, driving her knee into its ribcage and throwing it to the ground. Another was already behind her. Ragnar intercepted, his blade flashing silver as it bit deep into its neck. Black blood sprayed, burning the earth where it fell.

Raven sighed, knowing that there was no escaping the punishment that Sabrina would now have for her. "Okay, shoot, " she shrugged at Sabrina. She grinned at her devilishly. "You have to kiss the first guy who enters the Cafe wearing a suit," said Sabrina and everyone cheered in agreement. "No way guys, I already have a boyfriend. Tell me something else, please," said Raven, thinking about Frank Bradley whom she had been dating for the last two years. He was a good guy, his parents were close to hers, and she had known him for the last ten years.

I cleared my throat. "I am Raven Volkov and this is my marked mate Noah Brinx," I said and heard the murmurings get noisy. "Both your families are well known in several cryptid circles, you're both like Royalty, but don't expect me to bow. I don't do that, " she said sternly. I nodded hoping that she could see it in the dark.

I ask while kneeling down in front of her feeling how uneasy she feels hearing her parents yelling for her. I can’t help blushing a little when I stare into her obsidian eyes noticing her looking me over trying to understand what she is feeling. “I don’t know,” she whimpers at Rebecca screaming for her so I nod and scoop her up into my arms. “It’s ok come on,” I reassure while carrying her towards the barn door to find her identical twin opening the door. They are very much the same except, their hair, eyes, and abilities. Raven’s hair and eyes are pitch black and her aura was that of an extraordinarily powerful Lycan Alpha.

Phoenix said tiredly. The Ray guy stretched his hand out for a shake which I accepted, " nice to meet you, Luna" he smiled showing off his pearly white teeth. I smiled back, " it's just Clover" I said. Phoenix suddenly growled loudly, making me jump in fear. Ray released my hand and backed up, " sorry" he apologized and showed his neck in submission. Phoenix's eyes glazed over and so did Ray's, I guess they were mind linking. I turned my confused gaze to Tobias, but found him glaring at Ray. Okay, what the fuck am I missing here?
