The Warrior Queen Returns
A few small and shabby homes stood out here along the dense and forested border of our – Harrison's – territory.
In the distance, I heard a cry. It was sharp, fearful.
I took off at a sprint and rounded the corner just in time to see a rogue holding a struggling cub by the scruff. The child kicked and scratched, trying to break free, but the Rogue grinned maliciously at him.
My feet moved instinctually, and from my throat issued a deep, booming growl. A warning.
The Rogue flinched and whipped around, but it was too late, I was feet away. I had launched myself into the air. The Rogue dropped the child to brace itself, and the two of us went tumbling into the dirt.
