I wanted to win this war not just for myself, but for my dad and for my mom who was no longer there. Spenser It was truly infuriating! The fact that I couldn’t get her out of my damn mind at a time when I needed it most to think clearly, as well as the fact that the rogues had mysteriously disappeared! My scouts kept coming back with the same information. Their kingdom was deserted, and the rogues were gone. They didn’t die because there would have been some sign of that.

Every other Alpha had been left with no choice but to torture me in order to obtain the information they wanted, but that usually took them at least a month to get anything from me which they could actually use. I had a pretty high pain threshold and could easily go for weeks before anything actually effected my body. I just gave them what they wanted after a month in return they gave me what I needed, which was their full support when the time came. "Why are you rogue?" Jayson asked me. "My pack were slaughtered when I was eighteen. I was happy, just living my life with my family, but that was all taken away from me in one night..." I paused as I brought my head up so that I was looking at

The world tilts. Someone screams. A woman. I spot Brad is a blur of grey muscle to my left as he fights. He’s skillfully taking down rogues. Sylvia’s pack howls like an answering call to their alpha's victories, but they’re bunched back, trying to pull survivors away, dragging the injured, heaving the burned and the broken. They’re brave, but there are too many rogues. There’s too much shadow. The numbers are wrong. This feels like a trap.

Even if it is dinner with the enemy. My plan. Eric had my parents killed when I was eight years old. If my mother didn’t hide me away so I could escape, I would have been dead too. I spent my life as a rogue, learning all I could to survive. I had learned of a newer pack that had formed. The Red Moon Pack. Their Alpha, Ryan Blackstock, had a son around my age. No one had ever seen his son. When I learned that Eric had sent for a meeting with the new Alpha, I quickly intercepted the message and decided to pose as the new Alpha’s son, Bryce, here to speak to the Alpha on my father’s behalf.. My goal is to get close to Eric, convince him to be our ally and once I have gained his trust, de

Selene’s wolf stood close by watching her fight the rogues. The sixth rogue fell with a broken neck, as Nova bit it off. The last rogue, was the largest of them all. It lunged at her with the full force of its weight. Nova met it head on, their jaws clashing together, like thunder. She drove her claws into its chest and tore out his heart. The rogue crumpled, blood pouring from the wound. Nova stood over the bodies, her chest heaving, her white fur streaked with crimson. The seven rogues were all dead.

She raised a claw to finish it off when another rogue jumped at her, knocking her off the wolf. Nora whimpered, falling to a side, leaving her ribs bruised and bleeding. Of course, rogues travelled in twos. The new rogue crouched beside the fallen rogue, sniffing it and checking if it was still alive. Nora saw her blood on a couple of fallen leaves and growled, charging at the newcomer. She gave it no breathing space as she took it down, swiping at its neck with renewed energy and anger. When it tried to howl for help, she ripped out its vocal cord and the rogue went still. Returning to the initial one, it was barely alive and struggling to get away.

It burned. Dark figures slid from the trees. Rogues. Their smell was raw — smoke, sweat, and old blood. They moved with purpose, not the aimless cruelty of thieves but the precision of soldiers. “Well, well,” one said, voice sandpaper-rough. “Look what wandered into our little trap.” “Please,” I managed. “I’m just passing through. I don’t belong here.” The rogue who’d spoken laughed, teeth sharpened to points. “Raven’s territory. That’s a dangerous road for a Crescent Moon wolf.”

I nod to the members of C-Squad who are standing in the room, walking between the windows and the doors, checking to make sure Stellan doesn’t get in. “Did you see anything on the monitors, Alpha?” Since all the elite squad leaders introduced themselves during graduation, I know this is Saber. “Nothing, Saber.” She nods and goes back to monitoring the doors and windows. I go outside, lifting my nose in the air. I spin in a slow circle and, not smelling the packless rogue smell coming from any direction, I strip off my clothes and make my way to the border. I run patrols with the others until dawn when the shift changes again, then I head inside to get some sleep.

I kicked a rogue off my side, drove my twin blades deep into the chest of a second one pinned under me, and rolled off the dying beast, breathing heavily as I looked around the chaotic clearing. I stood up, appalled by what I was seeing. Something was very wrong. I had fought rogues before, so I knew what I was talking about. These rogues were inexplicably and ridiculously much stronger than they had any right to be. They were overpowering our trained soldiers through relentless force. Fuck. Quinn's voice suddenly cut through my mind like a whip. ‘Elsie, I feel your agitation. Speak.’ ‘There is something strange going on with these rogues,’ I said quickly, backing up against an oak tree as I

The one who I knew instantly to be the beta was similar to the Alpha, with scars and muscles that littered his body, though he had short Sandy blonde hair with green eyes. The others littered around were much of the same, men of all shapes and sizes, each one different from the last. I had never seen a man before, the only person I had ever known was my mother, and she was far from as muscular or large as those who stood waiting for me to show myself, perhaps so they could kill me. Pack wolves were not known to be merciful towards rogues, not even rogues were merciful to she-wolfs that didn’t belong to a pack, they saw us as vulnerable and easy targets for the taking. Or so mother told me.
