The judge excused himself at her approach, bowing politely, and Dante’s eyes turned to her the way a predator turns to movement in the dark.
“Enjoying yourself?” he asked, voice low, unreadable.
“Immensely,” she said, handing him the glass she hadn’t touched. “And I think you might enjoy what I overheard even more.”
His brow lifted a fraction, interest flickering.
She leaned in, close enough that her lips nearly brushed the edge of his jaw. “Cruz has a shipment moving on Friday. East Pier. He doesn’t want you knowing.”
For the first time, his eyes darkened with something like surprise. Or maybe amusement. It was impossible to tell.
