It stopped halfway, catching in my chest like something was blocking it.
“Not now…” I muttered, my voice strained.
My fingers curled slightly, pressing harder against each other as I tried again.

It didn’t work.
My chest tightened more, a sharp pressure spreading through it, making it harder to pull in air properly. My heartbeat picked up, faster, louder, each beat hitting harder than the last.
I leaned forward quickly, my elbows pressing into my knees as my head dropped slightly, my breathing coming in uneven bursts now.
