He taunted, curling his lips in a heartless smirk, inclining our faces together. With an incomprehensible ache accompanied by a tear rolled down my cheek, I nodded weakly, not wanting to share a moment with him. The more I saw him, the more it began to hurt me. “If it could take me away from you, then yes, I am running far away from you.” I whimpered with my shaky lips which made him let go of me immediately. The second he let me go, I grabbed my bow and arrow. Without daring to look back and see his reaction, I ran away, praying these steps would lead me away from his territory.

“You don’t get to run away ever again. You wanted revenge. You don’t get to call it off just because it starts hurting. I’m not angry that you left. I’m disappointed you ran from a fight you already lost the right to walk away from.” My stomach drops. I feel like a coward. Like Barbara, who tried to end it all just to escape her reality. But I wasn’t running from my reality because I was scared of everything. How do I tell him I ran because of him?
